Has anyone here ever successfully reversed PCOS with lifestyle changes?

Looking for some inspiration and encouragement!

Studies show vitamin D supplementation can help.

girl, take metformin. No side effects and there are some early studies indicating that it's potentially beneficial for other conditions.

Not for me. I have non-insulin resistant PCOS and was told that there would be no point in taking Metformin. Currently pregnant with #2 via IVF, after taking a lot of Vitamin D (my levels are naturally super low). My cycles have only been regular for a few months after my 1st IVF pregnancy (so having a child did not cure my PCOS). Losing extra weight before I first tried to conceive naturally did not help me, either.

What impact do you think the vitamin D had on you getting pregnant?

Don't know but I've started taking it before each transfer. I have to take 4000 IU daily to not be deficient. Any doctor can test your Vitamin D levels and tell you how much you need to supplement. It can't hurt to try!

Nope, even with 50,000 iu vitamin d prescription that I take every other day for severe deficiency. I did get pregnant with my daughter when I first started taking it in 2014 after infertility. However, I was just as infertile after having her and went through a year of infertility treatments to get my current pregnancy.

Metformin had HORRIBLE side effects for me, and my obgyn practice doesn’t even prescribe it anymore it makes so many of their patients sick. I never could get to 1,000mg.

Spearmint tea really helps delay the facial hair from growing. That’s about all I got unfortunately.

Good tip about the spearmint tea! And yeah metformin was truly disgusting for me.

Weight loss...i took metformin in combo with a low carb calorie restricted diet. That combo helped me lose weight. Especially the low carb part considering the insulin resistance. Carbs, sugar and alcohol do not pair well with metformin. Just my experience

No doctor ever mentioned to me the low carb part, i learned that on my own through extensive research.

Yes. Low carb - lost 100 pounds. My cycles got regular and I had my child with no interventions or drugs.

Did you try clomid or letrozol first? Why/why not?

I did both clomid and letrozol for a few months each, as well as one IUI. Didn't work for me.

I'm also non-insulin-resistant, so neither my OB nor my RE wanted to put me on Metformin. Fine by me, as my mother takes it for Type II diabetes, and she has horrible side effects.

Low glycemic index diet and vitamin D seemed to help regulate my cycles, but the only 2 BFPs in my life have both been from IVF/FET. 6 cycles of clomid or letrozole combined with IUI did nothing. A year's worth of ovulating on my own and TI did nothing. IVF was the only way for us.

Weight loss helped a lot. I wasn't overweight, but I was 130lbs on 5'1 (the very top of the recommended weight). Getting to 120 improved my hormone levels dramatically.

Also, after my first pregnancy, I no longer had PCOS. I was breastfeeding and my hormone levels were perfect for the first time in a decade. I noticed an improvement in all the side effects of PCOS that I used to have (acne, extra hair, weight problems, light headedness).
