My husband passed away recently and he requested to be buried at Arlington. I submitted all of the paperwork and I now have a case number. I'm waiting on the Scheduling Department to call with a date for the burial. He has been cremated and we requested inurnment in the Columbarium.
Does anyone know how long the current wait times are? |
| I'm so sorry about his passing, OP. |

I'm sorry, OP.
No insight on current wait times but they may be delayed a bit by Bush 41's funeral (a number of their usual ceremonial staff are used for events like this). |

I’m not sure, but I have a friend who has been waiting since March for them to schedule her father’s burial. In the past, I’ve had friends who had to wait three or four months, but it seems that the wait has become very long lately.
I’m very sorry for your loss, OP. I know having to wait for Arlington to schedule is another stress that you don’t need right now. Wishing you strength and comfort. |
| Thank you for the responses and the condolences. I tried to ask the Scheduling Officer, but they could not commit to a time frame. I'm prepping myself for at least a 6+ months wait. |
| My friend recently went through this with her father. I believe it was 4-6 months. |

I'm sorry for your loss. My father was buried there in 2011. He passed away in early May of that year and 2 weeks later I was informed that his burial was scheduled for that July.
Best of luck, OP. I hope you hear soon. |
| Do you have to be cremated if you are buried there? If you are not cremated, does it still take as long? |
I'm the poster above you. My dad was not cremated. |
It depends on rank and other honors earned, death in combat, while on active duty, etc. |
|
Sorry for your loss.
One funeral I attended there had to wait 6 months. Those passing while on active duty have priority. |
Where is this information from? I don't think this is correct based on my experience. |
|
I'm so sorry about your husband. My husband's uncle passed away July 2018 and his Arlington burial is scheduled for March 2019 -- so 8 months for him.

I know someone who was killed in combat, and he was buried within the week. It totally depends. I'm sorry for your loss OP. |
That makes sense. I thought the pp was responding to "do you have to be cremated?" |
