DME on Kojo show this week. Talks in general terms about the importance of DCPS neighborhood schools providing attractive pathways from PK through HS as well as providing 'alternative pathways' whatever that means.
New Chancellor will initiate a review of HSs to ensure they respond to neighborhood needs. Doesn't send his kids to public school because he wants Spanish emersion ... like thats not available in the public school system. To close achievement gap he wants to ensure that best teachers are retained in the schools that need them most. https://thekojonnamdishow.org/shows/2018-12-04/the-districts-got-a-new-deputy-mayor-for-education |
The waffling on the straightforward question was awful.
Went on at great length about how his career shows his commitment to public schools. Didn't address the question about his kids until Kojo asked a follow up (and it's not like Kojo is a tough interviewer). Also seemed to think the amt of oversight and accountability in both sectors about right. |
Paul has no clue what he is doing. Nice guy. But has no credible experience in education. His time in Philadelphia is about all of the real experience he has and it wasn’t successful. It is widely known that he was out of his depth there as he is here.
Only white MEN have such access with so little qualification. SMH. |
Who appointed him? |
The mayor. |
Oh please. Take a look at the thin resume of our current or past Chancellors, both BLACK MEN. The Paul guy at least had a distinguished private sector career. |
The African- American mayor? That mayor? |
Don't tell me she's AA and also a woman. |
Who appointed a white man. Which the PP apparently thought was an example of bias. |
What distinguished career??! |
Look it up. He was a partner at McKinsey, leading the education practice there for a couple decades. He has more private sector and education policy expertise than all other staff members combined. |
But no hands on experience in education? Teacher, principal etc. |
This is when the McKinsey man telling everyone else how to run things realizes his years of mansplaining was totally full of crap after all. Ha. Mayor loves these types. |
