| I haven't been to any yet but I'm really curious to hear about how they have gone |
| There is one at 3 today at takoma middle School |

Hey it's me, Marc Elrich. Definitely not someone else lying on the internet
People asked a bunch of questions but I ignored them I just want to keep raising taxes, spending money in dumb ways and keep shrinking our tax base |
|
I was at the one at ECCC on Thursday. He showed up late, took a few questions that seemed suspiciously fawning and flattering (as if he knew who to call on in advance) and then left early.
About what I expected. At least he's predictable. |
Pathetic... Glad I didn't waste my time driving to that one |
|
I went to the one in Olney; hundreds of people were there and suprisingly asked many questions about mental health services as well as development, and other topics. There were some irritating people from Leisure World asking about things the County can do nothing about.
Found it is available via streaming: https://www.mymcmedia.org/watch-live-county-exec-elect-marc-elrich-listening-session-thursday/ |
|
I'm at the Kensington one now
So far it has not been useful Just people talking about their personal causes that do not relate to anyone else |
|
His plan for economic development is based around small business incubators, the Montgomery county economicment corporation, a focus in school on preparing kids who won't go to college for better economic opportunities
He said that Montgomery county has a very high proportion of its income (24%) that comes from sole proprietors So in conclusion... Nova gets Amazon, we get food trucks.... |
| And those food trucks need to be paying higher taxes and giving employees $30/hr min wage! |
|
He said the main issues people asked about are
Concern for immigrants Transportation / Rapid transit Affordable housing No mention of the decline of Montgomery county or its economic future |
I’m sorry we’re not elitist enough for you. |
|
My experience at the final Marc Elrich listening session:
First, we all sang The Internationale. Then we greeted Dear Leader Uncle Marc with 20 minute toasts and successive shots of vodka. Uncle Marc then revealed his Five-Year Plan to mobilize the proletariat against the neighboring menace, Bezosland. In lieu of a new housing development sector plan, a statue of Marc Elrich will be erected and rotated to face the sun. The Takoma Park politburo was in the back of the smoke-filled room debating what to do with the Washington Post intelligentsia who dare oppose Dear Leader. I think the consensus was exile into Upcounty, Montgomery County's Siberia. Leaked sources from prisoners of Upcounty labor camps indicate that they undergo daily torture in the form of heckling by Robin Ficker. |
Those topics are what all the "random people" who were "selected" to ask questions asked. Funny how Elrich seemed to only call on "random people" that only had either praise for him or wanted to discuss things he agreed with and was prepared to speak about, huh? What an amazing coincidence, right? I mean, it's almost like he had an audience seeded with planted ringers. But I'm sure he'd never do that. Nah... |
I love food trucks. But I can't get a job at one and neither can the people who will buy my house in the future. But yeah, keep calling people elitist |
Or, just as likely, when a regular citizen asked about why the county is lagging behind economically, he just decided to not include that in his list of the topics that "most people" asked about It was also interesting that one homeless woman directly made the point that it seems like the county government cares more about helping brand new immigrants than it does about helping the people whose families have been in this country for many generations |
