| Looking for great shows to set a weekly bonding time with our young teen boys. We used to watch Flash together a while back. Last night we watched 45 minutes of Survivor. Any recs? Something exciting that we can also have some teachable moments, conversation starters.. but not too heavy Thanks in advance ! |

American Ninja Warrior
Survivalist type shows Science type shows Mythbuster reruns |
| We also love survivor. Old seasons are available on amazon prime. Also recommended a series of unfortunate events and Jyst Add Magic. |

Friday Night Lights
Friends The political comedy shows like this of John Oliver and Hasan Minaj. Both of those are funny and informative. We also like stand up comedy. Loved Kamau Bell’s special on Netflix, some old Ellen DeGeneris specials. |
| Amazing Race is good and prompts good conversations about how to handle challenges, be a good partner, etc. |
|
Adam Ruins everything
Worth it (short segments) Patriot act ( if language and politics don’t bother you) |
|
Stranger Things
The Get Down (if they are into rap&hip hop) |
|
The Big Bang Theory. I have a couple of Sheldons in my house and wanted to show them what I put up with every day. |
Young Sheldon is better. BBT gets a bit raunchy. |
|
The Office
Stranger Things The Middle Blackish Modern Family Walking Dead Pawn Stars Ninja Warrior Voice |
Black Lightning (no question this will start conversations) Black-ish (same but not "exciting") Charmed (no question this will start conversations) |
|
Blackish
The Simpsons The Good Place Amazing Race The Zoo (amazing show on the Animal Planet channel, about behind the scenes at the Bronx Zoo) |
| OP here, thank you DCUMoms and Dads. I grew up hating television, so we don't watch shows but seems there are so many better choices these days especially with Netflix. After homework, I noticed our boys started going to their rooms to veg on iPhones when they don't have sports, so trying to create a new normal where we watch shows together to minimize that and increase family boning time. How about This Is US, everyone seems to rave about it. Is it okay for young teens? |
| This Is Us is like a chick flick. I can't imagine my 13 yr old DS wanting to watch it. |
