Do you get hit on at the gym (and do you like it)?
I have, and can't stand it. I'm at a gym to work out, burn a crap ton of calories, release some stress/emotions, and to make myself fit and badass. Hitting on me will get you on a permanent stink eye list.
|
Depends how it’s done. I used to lift, and it always annoyed me when guys gave me unsolicited advice like “you should be trying to tone instead, here let me get you the 5 pound dumbbells” then asked me out. Dude, clearly I know what I’m doing because you like what you see.
A few weeks ago a smoking hot, much younger guy started up a conversation by complimenting my strength and exercise choice. I found that flattering. |
I am an out of shape, flabby, 38 year old. I have been hit on at the gym. No it's not flattering, and I do not like it.
Occasionally and no. During workouts I seriously sweat from every pore of my body, particularly my face, I get red and my forehead veins pop out. I get self conscious and don’t want anyone talking to me. Not to mention I am married and not looking. (Am female, in pretty good shape, late 30s).
The reason men still hit on you even though you are sweaty and red-faced with no make-up is the men in the gym are grunting, sweating, feeling animalistic, and the testosterone is flowing. In that state, sweaty red-faced women look pretty good.
Wear a wedding ring. They won't hit on you unless you are making eye contact with them.
All.The.Time! And I always listen to music loud, but some idiots always think it's ok to interrupt. Today I told a guy, I can't hear anything with music on. I am here to listen to music and work out and NOT to socialize. He finally got it and wished me a nice day.
Man here. Never once have I been hit on. I wouldn't mind though.
Yes, and it's pretty obnoxious. I'm a friendly person, but I have very tiny windows of time to take care of business, and I can't spend it all shooing you away.
No, not even in college when I was cute and skinny. Probably because my work out gear consisted of my least favorite/ free giveaway tee shirts, old ass bleach splattered leggings, etc. This was before athleisure wear really took off. Also, I sweat a LOT and my face gets pretty flushed. I've been hit on a lot in other circumstances, so it isn't that I'm a total reject or something.
Being hot and sweaty doesn't deter men. Neither does a wedding ring. Headphones are usually more effective.
Male bodybuilder here and I get stares from women along with light flirting, sometimes they will ask me about exercising or how to do something. It gets old after awhile and I been lifting for 20 yrs. If a young hottie is around she will try to get my attention but if I ignore her, which I usually do, she will keep at it. Moms on the other hand I'd get quick stares.
Hit on No. Made friends yes. I go to OTF 5x/week at the same time. I see the same people each day. If someone new shows up, lots of people welcome them and talk to them.
+1. Otf has a great culture |
