What will MoCo do now that Amazon isn't coming?

Elhrich isn't the only candidate that pinned his economic plans on Amazon coming to MoCo but he was the one who won and the one with the most expensive ideas. How is he going to fund things now?

The entire County will engage in strict ritual mourning for a year and a day. Schools and government offices will close for the entirety, all food served in restaurants will be sprinkled with ashes, and we will tend our clothing. Although we will never full recover from this great shame, in time, we will heal.

We’ll have slightly less traffic and slightly less rent hikes than our neighbors.

I expect the bread lines to start within the week. We’re all in rags and will go begging our affluent VA and DC neighbors for food and clean water.

Exactly - that’s all they know how to do. Tax the ‘rich’/aka the suckers who live here.

I will be forced to hawk my body - the only financial resource I have left- in the empty White Flint car park, hoping my wrinkled dugs can still be used to extract a few dollars in Amazon gift cards from the tech bros.

How did Elrich pin his economic plans on Amazon? He very reluctantly said he supported trying to bring them to MoCo, but it was clear he wasn't really a big fan of the idea. Amazon will make it more difficult for lower income people looking for affordable housing, especially folks currently renting. He is more concerned about these equality issues than attracting big business.

Breathe easy that they won't be paying Amazon 7 billion in tax incentives?

They’ll find some way to contribute. It’s MOCO- all they know how to do is tax!
