By playing up players that would never ever play up anywhere else. Some wouldn't even make other teams at their own age group. See why that's different? You can call it development, but it's not. It's over-sized roster management. |
| Gave up on bashing Loudoun so now you're back here bashing Spirit? Pathetic. |
I'm not making an argument for or against play ups. There is a overall gap of depth of talent between Spirit and FCV of that there is agreement and no Spirit apologists is in denial of that fact. As far as your constant droning about a playup is concerned i suggest you put your big boy pants on and go talk to the kids parents face to face. |
I guess now they realize, even that isn't a good excuse any more. Actually, I'm just warning every time I see it matters parents on this board. I got tricked, and now I have to ride out this crap for the year. I don't want anyone else to be tricked. The parents are idiots. If you can't see your kid is getting worse over time from playing out of her depth, that's your stupidity. I don't care. Had I known, I wouldn't have joined. It was talked about last year, but everyone said that an older team had injuries and Spirit had some sort of special exemption to have such a large roster. It was a one time thing. We were even told rosters would be 18-20 players this year. All of that turned out to be a lie. The rosters are massive because that's what Spirit does. They had a massive exodus of talent last year and it didn't teach Spirit anything. So buyer be ware. They say the right things, but watch their games. Hell, take your kid to a practice so you can see 25-30 kids, depending on team. Be very well informed. Sorry that I have to keep warning people. I just didn't get warned last year, so I have to make sure no one else makes the same mistake. Spirit apologists used to deny it and say it was because of playing up. |
What was the score when Spirit played FCV? Was there a huge goal differential? I don’t deny talented players went to FCV, however watching the game didn’t show these huge gaps you mention. At least the game I watched. Try again. Maybe Spirit is actually doing something right.. |
|
I saw the games and quite frankly Spirit was lucky. Let's see what it looks like in the rematch. The score doesn't always reflect how the game went. FCV U19s dominated the game and most of it was spent on Spirit's defensive half. Spirit had one luck goal from a long ball. It wasn't even a quality goal.
So yeah, it did show. |
| But hey, there is NO question even in my mind that the U19 group is Spirit's best, even with the losses. So I hope Spirit enjoys that. It won't be replaced as they filter out of the system. |
| Ok big man, thanks for the summary. |
You're welcome. And I invite everyone to come watch these Spirit games. They will easily see it for themselves. |
| ^^^^^ is this the self loathing 04 Spirit parent or the FCV shill? It’s so hard to keep track of the yahoos in these threads nowadays. Especially when they are trying to prove points that nobody is making, like Spirit has a corner on area talent. It must be grand to live a life of creating straw man arguments to tear down repeatedly. |
If Spirit knew that about itself, quit playing these average players up. Play them where they belong. Then the point won't have to be made any more. |
| So you are trashing your own club because a few players play in an older age group? Wow. |
I'm exposing the nonsense going on that destroys the environment for the age group they belong on and the age group they go up on and reduce the level of. Yep. |
| As a neutral observer, this seems more like a vendetta than impartial commentary. Sorry. |
Yeah right. Closet Spirit parent whose kid plays up I'm sure. For everyone else, come watch a game. Come watch them all. See for yourselves. It's a joke. |
