Huh? We've been using private contractors since Blackwater/Halliburton, etc. It's a way to keep troop numbers low and let the contractors do our dirty work, and has the side benefit of enriching US oligarchs.

Any of the "Support our troops" crowd who supports the way this Gold Star widow has been treated is FOS.

The treatment of this woman by POTUS is far more disrespectful than someone kneeling at a game. This woman's DH gave his life for this country. That's more of a sacrifice than POTUS has made or will ever make. To continue a public fight with this woman the day after she laid her DH to rest is petty. Sure, she may be in public saying things he does not like, but this man died in service of the country and the CIC. The CIC should be a grown-up and STFU!

Absolutely. The military does not spring special forces operations on unsuspecting troops.

Well they kind of do. Anyone can be assigned to the support command if they need that MOS. The Army just puts you where they need you. My spouse was in a GSC Signal detachment and had no idea what the unit even was until he looked it up. He loved it and enjoyed his time there, but he that was just where he PCSed to.

+1 I can't believe he's engaging in he said/she said with a widow who's 6 months pregnant and who just buried her husband who was so mutilated, she couldn't see the body. Our President has no shame.

Military contractors don't do extractions under hostile fire. We have extraction teams on gun ships that are supposed to take these mayday calls and respond to ambushes. The members of the extractions teams are some of the most battle hardened soldiers in the military - it's probably the most dangerous job. More dangerous than being a SEAL or other type of special forces.

It's unconscionable that these soldiers were operating in area with no nearby U.S. extraction teams. This would never happen in Iraq or Afghanistan. Someone really screwed up in DoD.

There is a line between what is publicly known and what is top secret, need to know sensitive. She should be allowed to know how and why her husband died without crossing that line.

I am sure some of the info is classified but she is asking for answers to questions already in the public domain. "Was my husband left alive on the battlefield" is a legit question. That info will not get others killed but it will certainly embarrass military brass.
