Huh? We've been using private contractors since Blackwater/Halliburton, etc. It's a way to keep troop numbers low and let the contractors do our dirty work, and has the side benefit of enriching US oligarchs.[/quote]

Military contractors don't do extractions under hostile fire. We have extraction teams on gun ships that are supposed to take these mayday calls and respond to ambushes. The members of the extractions teams are some of the most battle hardened soldiers in the military - it's probably the most dangerous job. More dangerous than being a SEAL or other type of special forces.

It's unconscionable that these soldiers were operating in area with no nearby U.S. extraction teams. This would never happen in Iraq or Afghanistan. Someone really screwed up in DoD.[/quote]
