A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the Biden Justice Department to produce a copy of a search warrant executed at his Mar-a-Lago estate, where the FBI conducted a nine-hour-plus search on Monday.

Federal Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart ordered the DOJ to “file a Response to the Motion to Unseal” the warrant after requests were made by the Times-Union, a newspaper located in Albany, N.Y., as well as the conservative legal group Judicial Watch.

The judge said that the DOJ must respond no later than Aug. 15, reports said.

The government NEVER releases warrants. This is a ploy by the GOP to get people angry over things that happen every day, like when the FBI executes a warrant.

Apparently, the ploy means that the DOJ can unseal the warrant after all.

No, the JUDGE can unseal the warrant if the parties agree.

Which means not just Trump can. From what I understand, Trump's lawyers were not allowed to keep a copy of the warrant at the time. Were they eventually given it?

I agree with Ted Cruz. Trump should release the search warrant and the list of items taken.

DOJ can release with a court order or FOIA request but not otherwise. The subject (Trump) can release whenever they want.

If I were Trump, I would do whatever my attorneys tell me to do.

Apparently, according to Eric Trump, not all the cameras in MAL were turned off during the raid and Trump was able to watch it live.

So there are tapes?

Of course they have the warrant, and they can make it public anytime they want.

RWNJs now are targeting the judge who signed off on the warrant.

Isn’t the judge a Trump appointee?

Law enforcement has to execute service of the warrant, which means providing a copy to the subject, and then report back to the court. Of course the lawyers have a copy. They would also have been provided with a detailed itemization of the materials siezed. There would be grounds to attempt to suppress the siezure if no warrant was provided to review and retain. Stop watching right wing media.

Why doesn’t judicial watch ask trump for a copy?

The FBI wouldn’t have authority to disable surveillance without a court order and they would likely want the recoding to demonstrate that nothing occurred out of the ordinary.

If you look through prosecutions of people selling classified, the people selling really didnt make much money at all, certainly not enough for any normal person to think represents a good risk/reward proposition. Trump is a wealthy man and can always make money selling his time as a speaker, etc in the same way that prior presidents did. Espionage is for nobodies, middling professionals usually no higher than GG-15s.

he likes to feel important. why did he release the name of a person in IC to the Russians? it isn't for the $$. it is to feel like a big shot.

I can see him spilling info; he already did that. But I think it would be degrading to him to literally sell documents. It would be like El Chapo selling pot on a street corner.

You know you're talking about Trump, right? The purveyor of Trump Steaks.

And Trump Ties etc.

Yeah but he didnt personally sell them. He branded them, which is what people do to make a lot of money. I just find it implausible that Trump would sell the documents. How would he even do it? The typical ways people do this would not be available to him because, well, he is literally followed at all times by federal enforcement officers (secret service).

As for the "intelligence" about weaknesses in our election system- that is nonsensical. By its very nature, intelligence is information about other countries. So he would sell their own information back to them? Does thaf make any sense? "Vlad, you interfered with our election. Heres our report on how you did it." He knows how he did it, because he did it.

I don't know. Maybe you could leave them in an unsecured location in the basement of your hotel that is frequented by foreign visitors on a regular basis.

Classified information most certainly includes information about the US and its vulnerabilities (as well as its plans, capabilities, etc.). You have no idea what you are talking about.

That isnt true. There are certainly classified security assessments or classified documents that describe vulnerabilities. That isnt intelligence, though. The documents are reportedly intelligence. We dont collect intelligence on our own plans and capabilities. We describe them in other classified documents.

How do you know they are “intelligence”?

There’s a ton of reporting on this. There are multiple links to it in this thread. Read the whole thread and the links in it.

All the reports just say classified documents. There’s nothing about “intelligence,” much less anything supporting your odd definition of it.
