Do you bring your kids to a parent/teacher conference?

If I simply can't do otherwise. The child is not supposed to listen to the conference. They can sit a little way away and read a book.

No. I don’t think you’re supposed to but if you have to, like my mom took me when I was a kid, have them sit on the other side of the room reading a book are playing a game .

Not into the classroom. There is a chair in the hallway outside the classroom where kids can sit and wait. Usually there is a basket of books and/or writing and drawing supplies and a small table or desk.

Normally, I'd arrange for child care, but last year, my plan fell through and I had to take DC with me. She was perfectly happy sitting outside the classroom reading a book.
This year I'm going solo.

Yes for our CES class. Ds prepared a self evaluation before-hand, and we sat together with the teacher to go through it so he understood better his strengths, improvements and things he needs to work on. Best parent-teacher experience ever.

Ditto for our DC. It was very helpful to have the teacher suggest areas for DC to focus on in the coming period, and for DC to hear that directly.

Typically no, but when my kid was at HGC, they included kids in the conversation. When I had to bring a kid previous to that, she waited for me in the hall. No big deal.

Mine are upper elementary and middle school. I sometimes bring them because I want them to be in charge and invested in their own education. Anything the teacher says to me...I'm just going to relay to them good or bad so why not have them there? I believe in openess.

I always schedule mine in the mornings before school starts. Kids wait in the hallway. That seems to be the norm for the before-school conferences.

Yes, because I have no child care otherwise. I think kids should be included.

Yes, but I’m single so nothing else I can do with them (I’m not getting a babysitter for this). The kids grab books or games and settle into a reading corner. Or sometimes the teacher in an adjacent room invites them in to help with tasks.

I didn’t but my kid is in K. We are at a title I school and everyone else did though.
