To be clear, the original poster did not identify “lean” as an important quality. |
| Yes I know. I was explaining why I began talking about that anew. |
To be fair, the OP didn’t have the actual ability to play lacrosse listed anywhere in his numbered criteria. He added stick work and Lax IQ as an extra. And I don’t own any pearls. What I disagree with is the OP coming on here a week before summer recruiting starts to list two physical attributes (which are more or less immutable) as two of four end all and be all elements of recruiting success. They aren’t. He said you need all four enumerated attributes to play for most schools, and added stick skills and lax IQ for the two power conferences. The facts are that variety of heights, and even speeds (big difference between raw top end sprint speed and shiftiness or quickness), get recruited, play, excel in the B10 and ACC, and even win Tewaaratons and make the national team. That is my point. I may have over-rotated a bit due to the history and rancor of the prior discussion on this thread, and because I think there is a guy or a few of them, who just likes make people nervous about their kids chances. Not a huge fan of that type of troll, as this phase is challenging enough. |
Welcome, BIC organizers |
As if they need to post on DCUM to meet their quotas? Please. |
| 2028 parents. Let’s just survive this summer! Keep it positive. Let’s all support each other and the girls and wish everyone stays healthy. Enough stress in this process. Let’s build up and not tear down |
Just great if I can’t tear down or attack another parent what am I going to do with all that free time? I guess it’s back to the bingo halls and Keno machines for me. |

Do as you please with your time and money, but an event that has 2029s 2030/31s is mostly a money grab. It’s all good to have your kid post on their Instagram page that they’re attending (as are 300 other kids), but honestly having your child fatigued by mid summer is a real issue. One thing we heard time and time again during the recruiting process was that coaches would rather see quality of play versus quantity. Playing hard at 3-4 events and hustle the same 4th quarter as you do 1st quarter will take you much farther than attending 10 events and looking like you’re playing half-ass because you’re so drained. As a PP who has gone through the process with two kids, I can tell you being on the rd in scorching temps for 8 weeks straight is not for the weary. Choose your events wisely. If your kid is telling you their body is staring to hurt, listen. |
And what about the other 200 girls that went? What were they ranked? I know a 2027 that went two year, she’s on a top club, zero stars and still not recruited. |
| I don't know what kind of mind games are being played here, but I believe most people would consider BIC Summer to be the most sought-after and prestigious showcase this summer for 2028s, and I wish my DD had a ticket. |
Nice 1 outlier vs 45 5-stars argument , and to try and prove what exactly? Only 50 get ranked by Inside Lacrosse. If you meant 4 stars, you can be pretty sure that many if not most were there at BIC. As for your possibly apocryphal 2027 BIC attendee, no one thinks the invites are perfect, and you can rest assured that attending BIC and being on the roster sent to coaches certainly didn't hurt her chances of being recruited. I'm guessing almost all of the attendees (probably 90+%) of the 2027s who attended last year are committed. And the programs on that list are impressive as well. Maybe the dad with the access to the 2027 attendee list can tell us. He's already done one-third of the analysis.

And why do you think it’s so sought-after? Has your child attended? Do you know how it’s run? How the kids are evaluated? You probably know about it because of social media and the best kids (who are already being seen) attend. It’s no longer as “exclusive” as it once was. Parents play into the social media highlight posts just as desperately as the kids do. Both my children attended 2 years and I can tell you, the kids are not being seen by all the coaches, sometimes no coaches at all. The coaches who attend are going to this event see a group of kids that are already in their watch list. Your kid might be lucky enough to be playing on the same team as or against one of those kids, but there is no way a coach can get a fair evaluation on that many kids in such a short amount of time. The amount of time your kid actually sees the field to make good plays is minimal. This event is not going to determine your kid’s recruiting success. Be glad your daughter is sitting this one out and you’re saving yourself $600 or whatever it is now. Side note *it helps if you’re a First Class athlete and attend Deemers training, just FYI* |
My child hasn’t attended, and I don’t need to know how it’s run or how players are evaluated to recognize it as the most prestigious and sought-after event of the summer. If you can name a more prestigious, more in-demand event this summer, I’ll Venmo you $10. |
*showcase* event, that is |
