Agressive driving

Is aggressive driving (cutting lanes with no signal, not respecting speed limit, going through red lights, merging recklessly, parking arrogantly, blocking exits, etc.) reflective of high concentration of narcissistic personalities in DC metro area?

This is a problem in many places. A lot of people just suck.

It's a sign that you drive too slow and people are just trying to get past you.

get out of the way. you're not going to get pulled over or even a speeding ticket for going 28 in a 25. Most of you need to get a ticket for going to slow. Get off your phones and waze apps and figure out where you are going. Get your head out of the sand.

Possibly, but mostly I think it’s a sign that this area is too densely populated for so many people to drive most places they go. We need better public transportation. In the DMV, traffic and the hunt for parking, combined with a higher than average percentage of the population having high stress jobs, is crazy making. Living here makes me hate people in a way that I haven’t when I’ve lived in other places.

In many states, including some of the ones mentioned upthread, it is illegal to stay in the left lane UNLESS passing. Left lane is for passing only. Why? Because driving slow in the left lane is considered (wait for it) aggressive driving.

You have to get out a little more, OP.

lol Between the slow left lane hogs that refuse to switch lanes, the not knowing how or when to merge, the full stop until green on red lights while making a right turn, and the not knowing how to use a flashing red light or 4 way stop signs or roundabouts, it seems as though it is an endless amount of seriously bad drivers here, only.

Nope, not always a sign of that. People are really aggressive drivers here. I suspect that traffic makes people more aggressive b/c it stresses drivers out.

My theory is that you don't have consistent driving habits here--people are from all over the world and bring all their bad driving habits here. It's awful to drive here b/c of it.

The areas that are listed upthread are fine drivers, as long as you conform to the local etiquette. Don't always look like a tourist, OP.

I troll for rear end crashes, I've made out pretty well on two so far and I'm always up for a third. I drive just a tad above the speed limit in the right side lane. If you're tailgating me in a nicer vehicle (and they're all nicer than the 03 Camry that I'm currently driving) I'm going to brake check you. And if you're not paying attention, you're going to hit me, and be at fault. Then your insurance company will be making my lawyer a settlement offer. Then I get paid, and your rates go up.

Driving in the DC metro area is like a spa for me after driving in Italy.

This is a tough one. We should all be merging right at the choke point like the Germans do. You do this here and people want to kill you.
