I have seen Letterman in person. What struck me was how much they tried to goose the audience reaction with flashing applause signs and a staff person who would clap wildly in case we all forgot how.

| Many of them. Donahue, Ricki Lake, Letterman, Conan, Johnny Carson, Fallon, Carson Daly... I'm probably forgetting some. I went to a bunch as a teen/ in my early 20s and then I worked in the music industry for many years. |
| I saw politically incorrect when it was in dc in probably 2000ish |
| I saw The Martha Stewart Show. She was not friendly or engaging to the audience at all. |
Jon Stewart too. I knew I forgot at least one. |
| UK (original) version of The Weakest Link. All I can remember is how tedious it was. The edited show you see on tv is nothing like the drawn out version of the actual filming. |
Jane Pratt! Yikes, they're all coming back to me. |
| Seth Meyers when he came to DC |
|
Oprah (book club), Jay Leno tonight show (front row by the band), Phil Donahue.
|
| The Price is Right when Bob Barker was still the host. |
| Yes for the Kitchen show on food network. Very small audience and crazy delicious food as a perk! |
I loved Phil Donahue! |
| This thread reminds me that cheers had to insert the line “Cheers is filmed before a live studio audience” b/c people complained that the laugh track was too loud. |
It was a much different show when he was still hosting. Took me forever to get used to Drew Carey even though I really like him. |
| I went to see CNN's Crossfire once when it was being held at GWU, long ago when Bob Novak was still around. |
