Benefits of putting all expenses on credit card

Anonymous
I hear it's a good thing to do. Why do you do it and has it paid off?
Anonymous
Yes. I get 2% cash back on all purchases. That really adds up. We also put all DH's business trip expenses on our personal card and that adds up even more. We've always paid our ccs in full.

Another who does it for the cash back (we get upwards of $1000 a year that we just put back towards that month's balance). Pay in full monthly.

We do it for the points, and also to track spending in one place conveniently. We get about $2500 in free travel a year doing this.

There are other benefits -- disputing charges, etc. -- but those are secondary to the travel rewards.

OP here. I hear the hey is you have to pay it off monthly and can't carry a balance. Otherwise, there's no benefit.

Safety. Much easier to call a CC company and say a charge is fraudulent as opposed to having to try and get the money back on your debit card.

This is a good reason

2% back and easier to track and challenge if needed. But yes, you do still need to pay it off monthly.

Of course you pay it off monthly. It’s lkke getting a small rotating 30 day loan that you don’t need to put interest on. And we get ooh ya and cash back and can always despute an odd charge.

It's easy

Everything is itemized at the end of the month. One statement. Pay it off in one go.

Much easier than going through 6 different websites, 6 passwords etc etc

I even use CC for car down payment once. Dealer did not like it but he wanted the sale.

I put an entire car (Toyota Rav 4 so 20k ish) on our credit card! We had the cash in our bank account to write a check to the dealer but putting it on the card got us the cash back, which was essentially like getting a discount on the car. Did call the cc company to tell them to expect the charge so it wasn’t declined.

This is exactly why I need to start doing it.

I wonder why he didn't like it. Money is money.

If you don't ever carry a balance, it is great. I love the purchase protection. On my card I get an extended warranty, damage and theft coverage, and guaranteed returns. With kids, cracked phones and broken laptops seem to be a regular occurrence in our family. People must not use the benefits much because they don't really ask questions and just give you the credit.
