| I’m a democrat. Just want to put that front and center. But I can’t bring myself to vote for either Floreen or Elrich. I know a Ficker is a bit of a lunatic but I get the feeling that at least with him there might be some checks and balances with council and my taxes aren’t going up. So why shouldn’t I vote for Ficker? |
| Google him and you will see that he is basically insane, going all the back to his days of needling the opposing teams at Bullets/Wizards games. |

“Robin Ficker has been reprimanded yet again by the Maryland Court of Appeals for a legal ethics violation. Specifically, he failed to show up for court and left his client unrepresented, and also employed a disbarred lawyer without the appropriate required notice.”

If you do any research than you won't vote for Ficker. Is Floreen perfect? No, but way better than Elrich or Ficker IMHO. |
| Read some of the many other threads on this. I went to a candidates’ forum this week and he forgot what the question was. |
| “In 1990, Ficker was publicly reprimanded by the Maryland Court of Appeals upon a finding that he had violated ethical rules prohibiting neglect, engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice, and lack of diligence. In March, 1998, he was indefinitely suspended from the practice of law, with the right to reapply for admission after 120 days, arising from violations related to competence, diligence, fairness to opposing counsel and parties, supervising lawyers and conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice. In August, 1998, he was privately reprimanded by the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission for a violation related to competence. In January, 2002, he was privately reprimanded by the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission for a violation related to client communications. Ficker was again indefinitely suspended from the practice of law in 2007. A dissenting judge in the latest suspension commented, "If disbarment is not warranted in this case for these types of issues, with a respondent with this history, it will never be warranted." Ficker's law license was reinstated on December 8, 2008.” |

Do you think he’s capable of hiring good department heads? That’s who does the work. He very likely will encounter a Trump-like situation where he can’t attract decent people.
What happens when he implements a 15g plan in the county and makes the police do immigration enforcement? He says he will fire Chief Tom Manger the first day. Chief Manger is likely the best police Chief in the nation. He thinks he can get more education finds out of Annapolis. He has absolutely no idea how that works. He thinks he can hold the school system accountable. Again, he has absolutely no idea how our bizarre, quasi-independent school system works. We can appropriate to pots of money in their budget. We can’t make them do anything. His website states, “Children that read a great deal are inevitably booming successes in later life.” If he’s so educated, he’d know it’s “children who read.” I don’t go all grammar nazi often, but if you are criticizing education, try to get it right. He says he won’t raise taxes for the next four years. That means services will be cut. What should get cut? Libraries? Fire Stations? Trash collection? The county funding structure is in big trouble. We have revenue write-downs all the time now. We can’t fund the schools any less because of the state maintenance of effort law. So that leaves cutting the rest of government services. 80% of the budget goes to personnel costs. Cut people, and services suffer. |
| 287g, not 15g. Not sure how that typo happened... |
| In addition to the points raised above, it would be a wasted vote. Even with three candidates, he has no chance. Many people who would have voted for him in a two person race as a protest vote likely will vote for Floreen, either because they like her enough or as the lesser of two evils (in their minds). |

No no no no no.
No. |
Op here... I wouldn’t totally count Ficker out — Floreen and Elrich night we’ll split the vote and leave room for Ficker to pull through. Floreen just wants to rubber stamp development without regards to schools and is going to raise taxes Elrich will definitely raise taxes and is just scary extreme So torn on what to do here. |
Even in a normal election, the R gets about 1/3. It would only be close if Elrich and Floreen split evenly. Ficker isn't going to do better than normal here. And I think there is a lot of reason to think he will get a lot less. I might have voted Ficker other years because, why not? Elrich would win anyway and at least I could do something symbolic. But now, I won't waste a vote on him, or if you think he has a chance, I wouldn't be vote for him since he'd be a disaster. So, now I'll vote for Floreen since she's better than Elrich and not insane like Ficker. |
| If he doesn't support this sanctuary city crap he has my vote. What I know is there will not be another property tax increase under him. Not a chance. I didn't vote for term limits only to be left with two people who should already be gone running for a more powerful position. So sick of this stupidity. |
Ficker is insane Op. He’s assaulted people and he’s harassed other sports teams so much that the Washington basketball team moved his seats further away from the court. this is not a hard decision.

Elrich cannot raise taxes without the approval of all 9 Councilmembers. |
