Algebra 1 in 7th grade

Do kids taking Algebra 1 in 7th grade have a choice between regular Algebra 1 and Algebra 1 Honors? Or are they automatically enrolled in Algebra 1 Honors?

Algebra 1 Honors only in 7th grade

Why do so many other school districts allow Algebra to be split into A and B to be done in 6th and 7th and then Geometry in 8th but FCPS, this "great district" makes kids take the full course in 7th, if they qualify (I know kids can opt out if they qualify. I say "make" in terms of not allowing it in 6th and making it just 1 course that has to all be done in 1 year vs splitting it into 2 to be done over 2 years) and then geometry in 8th.

What school districts split up Algebra I between 6th and 7th grade? If kids are advanced enough to be taking Algebra I in middle school, they should be able to handle doing it in one year; if they need to slow down, they should wait to take it. I've only seen Algebra I split up for kids who are not strong in math.

Other states. My nieces and nephews are in two different states and did 6th - algebra A, 7th - algebra B, 8th - geometry, 9th - algebra II (now). Another set in another state did 6th - algebra A, summer of 6th - algebra B, 7th - geometry, 8th - algebra II (now).

NP. Those schedules seem pretty silly. If they're ready for Algebra 1 in 7th, then they're ready for it. If they're not ready for it, then take it in 8th grade, the "normal" accelerated track instead of the double accelerated track (or the triple accelerated track, Algebra 1 in 6th grade).

What's silly about it? They end up on the same accelerated place (Algebra II or Geometry in 9th) but just received more algebra I foundation by doing it for 2 years and starting sooner. To me it would build better fundamentals. The same rules applied for them, they had to test in in 6th and they needed teacher recommendations. It's not a course any 6th grader can take but in their schools, everyone takes algebra in 7th. The regular track is 7th - algebra a, 8th - algebra B, 9th - geometry or algebra II.

I meant "They end up on the same accelerated place (Algebra II or Geometry in 8th)"
