I’ve noticed this several times with bootcut yoga pants. I’ve always dismissed it as poorly cut cheap pants - generally from Macy’s, etc. I just noticed that a brand new pair of Chico’s stretch pants are doing it and it occurred to me - is one of my legs longer than the other? I’m sure that’s bound to cause problems. |
It's possible. More common, I believe, is that one hip is higher than the other. |
This, but for me I believe it's either caused or exacerbated by distribution of fat. I have one thigh that's fatter than the other and it makes my pants hang oddly; it's better when I lose weight. |
It is certainly possible that one leg is longer/shorter than another. It also could be the way that you are standing. You might want to mention to your GP and see what the response is.
Did you ever have any casts on one of your legs when you were a child and growing? That can stunt the growth of the leg that had the cast. I know this from first-hand experience. |
Very common. The biggest problem it would have contributed to if you've had it since early adolescence is scoliosis. |
Look at your shoulders in the mirror. Does one appear higher than the other?
I have a one inch difference between right and left and the shoulders were the first clue to my doctors a when I was a kid that my legs weren’t equal length. I have to wear a lift in all of my left shoes to correct it otherwise I get horrible back pain. |
I have one hip higher than the other, likely due to scoliosis. My legs are the same length. I don't notice issues with pant legs (although theoretically i could, given the higher hip, since my leg on that side isn't longer to make up the difference). I do sometimes notice it in the waist of pants--sometimes my off-kilter hips pull the zipper is off-center. My brother does have one leg longer than the other and, like PP, wears a lift in one shoe. |
Totally possible. We aren't 100% the same on each side. When I was born I had an extra roll of fat on one leg. They thought I might be (is there a better word for this? There wasn't in the 60s) retarded.
Turns out I was just physically a little lopsided. I still am. |
Funny you’re just getting this later in life. Leg length discrepancy is lifelong (at least from growth maturity). |
Probably one hip is higher than the other. My pelvis is unstable so I have this issue. Another cause is mild scoliosis. Talk to your doctor. Physical therapy can hekp |
Soft tissue injuries can also cause your hips to be uneven (and then your legs to seem different lengths). I had this for years after a car accident with no obvious skeletal injuries...but I basically had chronic muscular tightness and back pain, primarily on my right side. I was pretty skeptical, but a chiropractor fixed this in one adjustment, and I got almost immediate relief from the pain...and my legs felt even for the first time in over 5 years. |
Definitely possible. i used to have pants hemmed and the ladies always noticed it. it could be hips not legs but either way.... |
My mom gets lifts in her shoes bz this is true for her. |
I had perthes and now one leg is shorter than the other. |
Yes, one limb can be longer.
I'm having a blazer and two dress slacks made by a bespoke tailor. Levinson Bespoke of Vienna. Not only are mismatched limb lengths a reality, almost everyone has some asymmetrical body part. One of the reasons men patronize a bespoke tailor (presuming one can afford to) is to compensate for "defects" that off the rack or made to measure wouldn't address. One of my shoulders sits lower than the other, which results in arms of close but not quite equal length. |
