Miscarriage- anyone btdt

I don't know if this is the best forum to post, but I don't know which one will be a better fit....
I was diagnosed with a miscarriage on 10/13. Was supposed to be 11 weeks but embryo meassured 6 weeks.
That same day I was given misoprostol, and everything passed early on 10/14.
I bled for a week, and now at 10/26 am pretty much done except a couple brown spots
I had blood drawn on 10/23 and hcg levels were down from 25,000 to 699.
Ob was happy with this results but wants to monitor my HCG levels until they are below 50.
Does this mean I won't get a period until they are below 50? Or ovulate?
If you had a m/c, please share whatever you remember.... how long did you get your first period after you m/c, had D&C or misoprostol?

thanks.

It is good that your OB is following up with your hcg levels. I had a d&c at 11.5 wks, embryo measured 8.5 wks, it took 6 wks for my hcg to get to negative, got my period at 5 wks post-d&c. almost positive I did not ovulate.

Hi, sorry for your loss.
I miscarried at 11 weeks (baby had stopped developing around 7 weeks) and decided to wait it out and not have a D&C. It took about a week and then about a month for the hcg levels to be below 5. My doctor checked my levels about every 10 days. It then took about 3 months for my cycles to go back to normal. This was something that took me by surprise. Never thought it would take so long, but once I was back on track we conceived on the first try. We are now almost at 35 weeks along.
Tons of luck,

I'm so sorry for you loss. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. It took about 5 weeks after the miscarriage for my HCG levels to drop low enough for me to get my period. Like another PP, my doctor said they wanted HCG to get below 5. I'd suggest you go back in about 2 weeks to have them test your HCG again. Don't expect your number to be below 5 or even 50, but it should be going steadily down. Even though I got my period back 5 weeks after the miscarriage, I would say it was another cycle before things were going normally. I got pregnant again 3 months after the miscarriage.

Thank you. Doctor did send me to get my blood tested again in 2 weeks, she says they will monitor it until they are below 50....

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I had a missed miscarriage discovered at 9 weeks and a D&C the following week, so my case is a little different. It took 8 weeks until I had a period and the first one was very light. Really took more like 3 months for things to get back online for me. I had not expected it to take so long.

I just wanted you to know that there are many of us out there who understand just how difficult it is to lose a pregnancy. My heart goes out to you.

OP, I am so sorry for your loss. I had a m/c and d&c in July. Since then, two friends have given birth and three more have announced pregnancies. Oh, and about 2x a month, I get harassed by a neighbor, friend, or family member asking if we're ever going to have a second child. Today I learned my SIL is having a boy, about a month after I was to be due. I am having a really hard time this morning.

Anyway, it took me 6 weeks to have my first period after the d&c, 5 weeks to the second period, and 4 weeks to the third which is just ending today. I think I'm close to back to normal, physically, which is the good news. Emotionally, obviously, still feeling a bit depressed, though I think it's hitting me hard today since its gloomy outside and I just got that news this morning.

Hugs to you. I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Thank you. And I know exactly what you mean. I have 8 friends/family members pregnant, and they are all due in April, the month I was due... so it is hard!

I'm so sorry for your loss. And I understand how hard it is when everyone around you seems to be pregnant. So many of my friends are pregnant, I can't even remember when the due dates are or who is having what.

My missed miscarriage was discovered at 9 weeks and I had a D&C at 10 weeks. My HCG was over 100,000 at 9 weeks. Amazingly, I got my first period exactly 30 days after my D&C (I thought it would take a lot longer since my HCG was SO high). I got my period as soon as my HCG hit zero.

Again, I'm so sorry for what you are going through.

I'm so sorry for your loss-- I know how devastating it is. At 12 weeks, we discovered that our embryo had stopped developing around 8-9 weeks (we had already seen a healthy heartbeat at 7w, 5d). Had a D&C the next day. 17 days later, my HCG was at 12 and a week later it was at 5. I got my period 11 days later and have had 3 regular cycles since then. I think my numbers were pretty low, though, because there were three weeks after the embryo had stopped developing and when I had the D&C (so more time unbeknownst to me for my numbers to decline). I know it's frustrating having to wait for your numbers to go down/get your period back, but it will happen. We're going to start TTC again next week for the first time -- seems like it's taken us forever to get here, but now that we're back TTC I'm nervous and scared all over again and can’t believe I could be pregnant next week!! I’m sending good thoughts your way (and to everyone who has gone through this) and hope we all have successful pregnancies soon!
