Here's my attempt to start a thread where we can support each other while trying to lose weight. Perhaps we can all choose a nickname or something so we can keep each other straight.
Also, let's not post current weight and goal weight, but rather have goal pounds, etc. This will hopefully help stop wars over who should or shouldn't be dieting and all those snarky dress size comments. Here it goes: I'm the OP. My goal is nine pounds by Valentine's Day (although I am secretly hoping for Christmas). I struggle with mindless eating (desk job) and thinking I deserve to "cheat" several times a week. I also need to start working out again. Am hoping to tonight. Let's hear it, ladies! |

I'm Momto2
My total goal is 45 lbs by May (22 weeks @ 2 lbs a week) I had 2 babies back to back, and gained way too much with #1 and a little too much w/#2, but started out 20 lbs over with #2. I was working out during my maternity leave but find myself without any time or energy now that I am back at work. I also struggle with mindless eating and I often give up and eat whatever bc I dont seem to be losing weight anyways. I am still BFing and dont know if that is hindering my weight loss. |
| Just started my new diet last week. Working on losing 10 pounds in 10 weeks. I made a spreadsheet documenting exactly what I eat and how many calories each day. Trying to stay around 1400 - 1500 per day. It's kind of obnoxious but it helps me stay on track when I see it written down and makes me accountable for my own mindless eating. Now if I could just get motivated to work out! |

OP here. I did pretty good yesterday until I got home. Then it was munch, munch, munch. I really just need to throw the pita chips out. No work out either.
So far so good today. How are you ladies doing? |

Great idea.
I'm Lulu. My goal is 13 lbs by the end of the year. Had a baby almost 1 year ago -- I'm currently at my pre-pregnancy weight, but I was at the high end of the healthy BMI range and I look and feel much better when I'm 10-15 lbs lighter. I just joined weight watchers online last week. So far it's killing me. I'm sticking to it but am so hungry. That is not surprising, as my biggest weight problem is that I love food and I love to eat. I have a huge appetite and would never skip a meal. So being forced to stick to smaller portion sizes and less carb, starchy foods (I gave myself permission to indulge in those while I was pregnant and I never stopped...) is good for me, but really hard. Trying to work out more, too, even if it's just a half an hour walk with the stroller a little more frequently. I'm in the process of weaning, and I am worried I'm going to gain weight, not lose, once I'm done (because I won't be burning those calories anymore). My biggest motivation is fitting into all the clothes in my closet again, and feeling better about how I look. It's amazing how different I look and feel with an extra 10 - 12 lbs. |
NP here who also needs to lose. My trick for not munching - I'm terrible about picking while I cook, esp. my kids' dinners - is to pop a piece of gum in when I get home. |

Good idea! I need some help.
I have 10-15lbs of "baby weight" but she is almost 4. .. . I need to work out 3x a week I have high (borderline) cholesterol with family history I drink too much wine! |
Goal is by Feb. 1 |
| 13:10/11 - One thing that helps me on the wine front is putting sparkling water in a wine glass. I figured out that after the first sip or two, I'm usually watching TV or on the computer so I am not even paying attention to what I'm drinking and how it tastes. I'm trying to leave the wine for one weekend night only (and even then sometimes I pour half the bottle out so I don't drink more than I mean to). I hope this is somehow helpful to you! |

would people be up for a blog site instead of coming here for this?
I have not posted yet - but thought it might be able to be a little more supportive. Thoughts? |
| My nickname will be Elastigirl (like the pants I will be wearing soon if I am not careful). I reallty need to lose 20lbs by Christmas. I broke my ankle and I cannot do any cardio right now so not happy. |
| Lulu here. Someone please tell me that after a week or so with less food, I will stop being so hungry all of the time. Please let that be true. |
your stomach will adjust and you will be less hungry. Can't say exactly when, but for me 1-2 weeks usually does it. Try eating lots of protein and fiber. |
| To Lulu - and drinking coffee. I know somebody who swears by this. |
| NP here who will be Tall Girl. I joined WW 8 weeks ago and lost 17 pounds of 40 so far. I also lost a size and am almost into another lower one. I am hoping to lose about 8 or 10 more before Christmas and be in a size 12. I am really hoping to reach my ultimate goal before my middle child's birthday in late April, but am resigned that it might take me until school is out. Since I am viewing this as a lifestyle change, I am ok with the length of time it will take. Good luck to all. Since I don't have anyone to talk to about this, I am excited for this thread. |
