| Hello, I had a natural miscarriage at 10 weeks (fetus stopped growing at 6 weeks). I managed the pain with ibuprofen. This time it’s a blighted ovum and I will be taking misoprostol. I was prescribed Motrin for the pain. Wondering if I will need something stronger and if I should ask for Zofran. I do not have a high tolerance for pain and and reading about other people’s experiences is making me panic. |
| To me it was very comparable to my natural miscarriages. Maybe even a little "quicker" thus better. |
This is helpful. Thank you. |
| I don't know if Zofran will help. The puking for me was pretty violent. |
Me too. But all of mine (natural and misoprostol) were right around 6 or 7 weeks. I think the further along you were, the harder it may be. |
Isn't blighted ovum at an early stage, why do you need misoprostol for it? |
|
With Zofran and Percocet I had no nausea and little pain. The whole thing was over much faster than my natural m/c and was not bad at all. Get Zofran and if you have stronger painkillers, take them.
Good luck, OP. Sorry you are in this position. |
Np here. It can take a while for the body to recognize the blighted ovum. Mine was seen on an u/s at 7w, and I decided to wait it out. My m/c didn't happen until 11w. And I'll just say it was more painful than I expected, and took about 4 days, from the initial cramping until my body expelled what it needed to expel. I'm okay with my decision at the time to wait out a natural mc, but I wouldn't necessarily do it again. |
| My experience with misoprostol was "easy". Not an unbearable amount of pain, bleeding lasted the weekend. Fetus was measuring about 6.5 weeks. Sorry, OP. |
| I would definitely ask for something stronger. I still had pain though bearable even with taking percocet. I only took 3 percocet during the process. Heating pad helped as well. I had extra Zofran from nausea during pregnancy, but didnt use it since I had no nausea during the process. |
| OP here. Thank you all for your replies. My body has decided to do this for me. I started spotting and cramping this afternoon while at work. I was able to finish the workday. I am now at home, laying in bed with a heating pad. The cramping is getting stronger, but I am still only spotting. Want this to be over soon. |
| Good luck, OP. You're not alone in all of this. |
Good luck OP, just an FYI, I spotted/bled for a week before everything came out. The cramps got really intense right before I passed the products of conception, but it took a while. If it doesn't pass soon, you may want to consider the drugs too. Just my experience. I am so sorry for your loss. It sucks! |
OP here. Thank you. It has now been over 24 hours since I started miscarrying and have very light bleeding, comparable to a period. I think I’ll take the drugs tonight if this continues. |
| My experience was misoprostol was faster and thus easier to manage the pain. I took it at night and passed everything (blighted ovum, discovered at 9 weeks) the next morning. Any cramping was managed by tylenol and I didn't have any vomiting or other side effects, either. With my second (basically a chemical at 5 weeks) I had spotting and cramping for 3 days before full flow. It was earlier, but felt more painful/took longer. |
