Worst punishment you have ever carried out

By now most of us have probably done something extreme to remind them who put a roof over their heads.

During high school, I took the car keys away for a week. He lied to me about wearing his retainer. Silly, I know, but don't lie to me. He had to take the bus to school and I would pick him up from athletic practice.

This is a standard go to for my teen driver. Driving is the ultimate privilege.

I took a phone for the the full summer a few years ago. He was 15 at the time.

I’ve had 10 days of “hard labor” (mainly yard work, mopping floors, cleaning walls, power washing house), with no electronics. Once labor was over he would read. He read a book a day for ten days.

When they were younger, the worst punishment was an old fashioned spanking, which we carried out on some occasions.

As older kids, they haven't given us any reason to punish them.

That’s it?!

My worst was being grounded for the entire quarter if my grades dropped below a 97 (we didn’t have a 4.0 scale). No phone with friends, no going out, could only watch TV with my parents in the living room (we didn’t have TVs in our rooms anyway though).

Giving my tween son a hug in front of his friends!!

(When he doesn't behave, I tell him he's going to pay for it when it is most inconvenient)

I love hugs, he hates them and nobody is going to call social services. It's perfect

Did not take her to a concert to which we had tickets and that she was looking forward to (for lying abiut something important). Her sister and dad went, and I stayed home and took the brunt of her anger and disappointment. It sucked, because I would have liked to go too, but was not going to leave her at home alone to play video games for an evening. (Plus, as Eddard Stark said, "he who passes the sentence should swing the sword")

I unhooked the xBox. It's sitting in my closet for, as far as DS knows, eternity.
Massive, unabated disrespect over homework- but guess what? After taking the xBox, he got so bored, he picked up Animal Farm from our bookshelf and is about 2/3 of the way through. We had a book discussion yesterday- made me so happy.

He had to play racquet ball with me 2 times a week for a few weeks.

Requiring 12 or 13 yo to clean the house from top to bottom. I don't even remember what she did to deserve it, but I recall that it took her a few days of work.
