Any local docs who prescribe neupogen and intralipids for RPL?

Anonymous
Does anyone know of a DC or Baltimore area doctor who will prescribe neupogen and intralipids for immune related RPL? I've had extensive immune testing done, but neither my RE nor my RI prescribe these particular meds and the ones they do prescribe aren't working.

Dr. Abbasi at Columbia Fertility is the only RE in the DC area (unless something has changed recently) who addresses reproductive immunology issues.

Who is your RE and RI? Abbasi is the only one who is local.

What issues did they find? Not everyone needs IL and/or Neupogen.

Dr. Abbasi works with a few different local hematologists who do the actual Rxing for Neupogen--Dr. Priego and Dr. Bannen. But I think they won't do it without another doc saying they want you to have it. Supposedly Dr. Bannen's wife is an obgyn, and he really believes in it, so maybe she does also? Maybe you could get her on board as obgyn to collaborate with him and recommend the Rx? I don't know her name.

Dr. Padilla at FCM is my RE and he doesn't do any immune stuff himself, but is willing to work with an RI. Dr. Kwak-Kim is my RI. She found elevated NK activity and elevated cytokine ratios and has me on Prednisone, Plaquenil and LOTS of IVIG, but they aren't bringing my numbers down and I'm continuing to miscarry. And Dr. KK doesn't prescribe intralipids or neupogen, which are pretty much the only things left to try.

Will Dr. Abbasi do immune management while I cycle with a different RE? Or do I have to cycle with her?

you have to cycle with her

I also miscarried on IVIG, twice. I needed Neupogen, that was the missing piece for me (I have KIR AA haplotype). This was the exact reason I picked Braverman over Dr. KK as my RI to see after initially consulting with Abbasi and AEB. KK would have just given me more IVIG and we already knew that didn't work.

Can order intralipids from Greece as they are just a good source - it’s $175 for 10 bottles but then you need to find a friend or family to administer it without a script basically. I’ve gone done this road to find someone here to prescribe and no one will. sIrM in my does intralipids and neupogen but need to cycle with them can’t use a different RE. DR Allen beer is $700 for a consult and does prescribe intralipids remotely and you can either tell your RE you’re working with him or you don’t need to. Let me know if you have luck finding someone here without switching REs. I did a consult with Abassi and won’t be switching to her.

Just to clarify the above post Dr. Beer passed away in 2006, but the center which he founded is still running in California with his name. Many will see the acronym AEB used.

She has always said you have to cycle with her, but I met someone on another board recently who says that Dr. Abbasi is doing her RI and she maintains a different RE. I'm not sure if she has changed her policy or if she's just doing a one-time thing for this person because her RE and embryos are in Europe. You could do a consult with her and ask.
