The H1N1 shots have thimerasol in them, but they have a supply of thimerasol-free seasonal flu shots. My husband and I went this morning. Cost $100 for both of us to get both shots, but it was quick and easy. You need to call ahead. They are located at 815 CT Ave, NW.
I called and made appts for my kids. You do need to be in the risk groups in order to get one. No thimerosal free at this time.
are they doing infants?
Thanks so much, OP
OP - how did you and husband get h1n1 vaccine? Are you in priority categories?
I was just able to make an appt for our 2.5 year old son as we have a 3 month old at home and our son has asthma/respiratory problems. My husband and I were able to get the shot at our primary care physician's office because of the fact we have an infant under 6 months old.

Just called and made an appointment for my little one. I was told that H1N1 vaccines are by appointment only -- they have slots available next Monday afternoon and appear (based on the questions I was asked) to be strictly limiting the vaccinations to CDC-priority groups.

Thank you so much, OP! I just made an appointment for my toddler.
just made an appt for my 18 month old next Monday at 5pm. I haven't been able to find it anywhere for him....so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...to the poster!!

Just got my appointment. I LOVE YOU OP POSTER. My 2 year old with asthma will get it, and my husband and I will also get it because we have a 4 month old at home.

Same experience. The scheduler was very specific in asking how I fell into the priority group. There is a charge for the vaccine. |
I am one of the PPs and also want to express my thanks to the PP. What makes this board so amazing is that it creates an environment in which information can be shared that might not otherwise be obtainable. This is a perfect example where I would have never known about this clinic but for the OP (who I don't even know)!
You have saved me OP!!! Thank you!!!! I called to schedule my 11 month old who was hospitalized with RSV and diagnosed with asthma at 4 months old. Swine flu would have most definitely landed him back in the hospital as his little lungs could barely hanld RSV. Thanks to you he will be getting his first H1N1 vax on Tuesday!
OP here. Happy I could help. Just wanted to clarify one thing: the clinic DOES have thimerasol free seasonal flu shots (I got one today--the syringe even looked different from the seasonal flu shot my husband got with thimerasol). The H1N1 vaccines they have do contain thimerasol, however. They do not have the Novartis one with negligable amounts, either. I thought it was worth the risk, as I'm pregnant (which is why we were able to get it--husband will be a caretaker to an under 6 mo. old soon, which is one priority group they're giving it to).

Thank you OP. I was able to get my son an appointment next Wednesday based on age alone.
They said that I can call next week to try and get an appointment for myself because I have Lupus and I am in the next rung down on the priority list. The lady on the phone was super nice too. While there can be a lot of nastiness on DCUM at times, it is people like this OP who make it all worth it! |
