Health and Medicine
| Agreed - thank you OP! I made an appointment for my 12-month-old daughter for next week. I too am the second rung down - due to MS - and was told that they would open the appointments for the next rung on November 2. I really respect them for sticking strictly to the CDC priority group recommnedations, as it means that those in the priority groups can actually get the shot. |
Unfortunately I just called and they do not have pediatric preservative-free seasonal flu shots. Sigh. The hunt goes on. |
| (To be more clear, my kids are over 3--so I don't know if they have the infant/toddler preservative-free version.) |
| Does anyone know how much they charge for the H1N1 vax for kids/infants? |
|
maybe its me, but I don't think its right that they're charging for the H1N1 vax, if I understand the posts correctly. The government bought all of the H1N1 from the manufacturers. That means your tax dollars have already been spent for it. Then you're going to have to pay the clinic $50 for the H1N1? You're paying twice.
Got mine "free" at Hine this evening. Got in line at 4, was out by 5:20pm. This, by the way, is government run healthcare. |
| I was told it would be $14.75 for my toddler. I'm happy to pay that to have an appointment and know when and where I can get it. |
Try Capital Travel Medicine in Arlington or INOVA Fairfax flu clinics. I can't say they have it this year, but they have in the past. Good luck! |
| Thanks, I called Capital Travel Med, and they have the preservative-free seasonal flu shot for kids under 3 and FluMist for anyone over 3. |
| According to the web site they have no more H1N1 vaccine right now. |
| Who doesn't have any vax? Farragut? |
| Yes, their web site says: "We are no longer acceptng appts for the H1N1 Vaccine at this time." |
I just called to confirm, and was told that they are all out. They said they didn't know if they would be getting more, but to check back in mid-November. |

We had an enourmous volume of calls yesterday and we have booked all of the available H1N1 vaccine that we currently have on site. We hope to continue getting shipments from the DC DOH and will post it on our website as soon as that happens...I promise!
On the other hand, we do have a very limited supply of the preservative free pediatric doses of the seasonal flu vaccine (6 mo - 35 months). I saw an earlier post that said we were out. We have quite a few of the ones for 3+ yrs (preservative-free). Seasonal flu shots can be given on a walk-in basis during our office hours: 10am - 5pm (we take our last patient at 4:30)-Ida Bergstrom, MD Farragut Medical & Travel Care www.farragutmedical.com |
but if you have an appt for next week for the H1N1 shot, you should be fine, right? |
I just called (before seeing this post) and was told there were no seasonal flu shots for kids over 3! Confusion really is the order of the day. |
