Congratulations…you were used and manipulated to achieve an outcome for an ECNL board member’s pet project. Now go back to being obedient and silent while your betters plot their next astroturf campaign: kicking foreign kids out of college to open up a space for ECNL directors children. Your instructions for outrage will be delivered via podcast when ECNL is ready to reactivate you. |
OR you could be a parent and take this ride instead of your kid and then read her in when the road is clear. Raise a resilient kid. It'll pay off in real life. Soccer isn't real life and my talented kid knows that as well. Worry about the things you can control. Wasting mind space and parenting space on an ecnl decision is foolish by all accounts [signed, parent of an ecnl player with a 12/6 bd]. Histrionics don't fix problems. |
There is another possibility. When this came to the surface it was just a thought. People talking. It was not serious or part of a plan. It got some traction and is set for 2026. No one did any work to prepare for this. It will take months to be ready. I doubt we get real guidance until this time next year. They don’t care that a few people are upset. Because it is just a few people. Now the podcast. They did not talk about it because they have nothing to say. This has not been thought through at all. The comments on the first podcast were never meant to cause all of this. BY is still in play in my view. Everyone just has to stop with all of this nonsense. |

Let me help you people understand. ECNL was only going to goto SY if Us soccer pushed through a new mandate. USS threw a curve ball and now they need time to regroup and think about what they want to do without a mandate.
It is risky to goto SY cutoffs alone as the majority of the kids playing soccer are Jan to July kids. The girls side for ECNL is strong and established but the boys are not on the same level. Parents of Q3/4 kids want an answer or statement when US Club does not really even have a plan. |
So you think USSF is relaxing their mandate because of a comment on a podcast, and your telling others to stop with the nonsense? |
Yea…that must be what AYSO, USCS and USYS (rec+ecnl) meant in their joint statement… 😂 ECNL is absolutely going to SY in 26. They will go alone. They’re the dog that caught the bus. I do love how dismissive to the potential chaos and conflicts this could cause ECNL and the SY-crazy parent were. Accusing anyone who suggested caution and thoughtfulness of being a “dirty lowdown Q1 parent” and now you turkeys are all stressed about getting what you wanted in 2 years….😂 |
| I think the people who want answers are those of current trapped players (rising 8th and 12th grades) who may need to make alternative plans for their kids if ECNL isn’t making a concession for them in 2025. By plans I mean setting up private trainers to fill the 8th trap season, approaching directors about plans for their children, or even switching clubs that provide better options for the crap trapped year position they are in. Parents thinking ahead… |

This is what we are looking for exactly! It could be a wasted year if nothing changes…bringing trapped and then playing spring soccer on a team that doesn’t matter and will not be together the following year. Or with a change of some kind for trapped players that would allow them to play with the correct grade. Whatever the change may or may not be just would be nice to know |
ECNL and USClub clearly stated that the change to SY has been in discussions for the most of 2024. Anyone who thinks that this was some random thought they threw out on a podcast is crazy. It is happening. They are making plans. They just need to stop teasing everyone with the promise of info and then leaving the soccer community hanging. |
No one saying it wasn’t discussed or isn’t being seriously considered. But bureaucracy takes substantial time usually. ECNL will not change until they can get full grantee of what will happen with the youth feeder system they need to survive. |
| Jokes on us? No change in 2026 either? 🤣 |
Only some rec leagues and lower level youth leagues. |
Do you still believe in Santa? Dude, do you understand what is happening? 1. Ecnl causes mass hysteria and gets their online minions to push this SY is better than BY talk. 2. Vote comes in November. All we know for a fact is that there are no changes in 25/26. 3. US Soccer gets pissed and says fine, every sanctioning body can do as they please. 4. GA/MLSn strategic partnership will allow both leagues to stay BY. Along the way, they may pull in some clubs that don’t want to lose MLS Next.. and the clubs that have GA/ECNL may also convert MLSn. 5. ECNL slowly losing clubs to GA/MLSn, and then in 26/27, do you think they will still want to go school year? |

Over the past several months, U.S. Soccer's member organizations, leagues, and clubs have collaborated to determine the best approach regarding roster formation for participants across various levels and regions of the country.
We support U.S. Soccer's approach to providing choice to allow member organizations and their leagues to make decisions in the best interest of their participants. While the ultimate authority for any potential changes lies with the Organization Members (i.e. National Associations, National Affiliate, State Associations), we aim to do so with feedback collected during this process. We want to reiterate our intention to work together to ensure clarity and mitigate issues regarding the implementation of any potential changes for the 2026-27 soccer calendar. We anticipate a formal release of a comprehensive plan following the U.S. Soccer AGM (February 27-March 1). |
