Roy Moore is disgusting on so many levels but this is low. The GOP folks twisting themselves to get around this are equally disgusting.

Let's not forget aside from the larger problem of sexual assault, Roy Moore's alleged behaviors with this young girl is a symptom of another larger, little discussed phenomenon in fundamentalist Christianity -- that it is "normal", even expected, for older men of all ages to engage with teenage girls and "court" and marry them. Guarantee there are many evangelical Christians out there thinking that Moore's behavior would only be improper if he conducted himself this way while married to someone else.

About the time that liberals decided definitively that science and facts were something we needed to observe. Then, being contrary, the GOP felt that facts conflicted with their fairy tale worldview.

This morning I saw on Good Morning America an interview with the NYT reporter who broke the sex abuse scandal with the SNL comedian. Ms Buckley (NYT) said it was important to first have a paper trail before going public with the allegations, especially for any allegations that are decades old.

But WaPo doesn't care? Interesting.

Objectivity is less important than being factual. The facts reported in the article are very solid. That’s why nobody other than Moore is arguing that the story is false. His supporters in Alabama are essentially conceding the facts and resorting to biblical justifications.

Most people I hear are saying:
"IF its true, he should step down."

I'd like to see the kind of paper trail The New York Times produces for its readers. What's wrong with The Washington Post? They hate Republicans. No one here is surprised about that.

His opponent must have been getting desperate.

Moore's opponent isn't driving this. The GOP is.

I'm not sure why this would surprise you. Has the WaPo ever endorsed a candidate like Moore? I'm also not sure why it even matters, because I doubt the newspaper has many readers in AL.
