| Every time I pass the Modell's on Wisconsin in Bethesda I get mad that it's not Lowen's toy store. |
| Anyone remember Sr. Dorothy at Holy Trinity High School in Georgetown? |
No memories about Sr. Dorothy (sorry), but . . . anyone remember Sr. Margaret (math) at St. B's? Or Sr. Petra (Latin) at Immaculata HS? |
|
Lowens lost me when they stopped selling toy guns. |
I do not know either, I went to the public schools. But my neighbors all went to St. B's. They talked about a sister who used to rough them up so much that they named her Sister Cassius Clay. Even us public school kids were scared of her. Do any of you St. B's alumni recall the moniker? |
I used to ride my bike to Lowen's (after a stop a Bruce Variety and the Sportsman) to purchase the ingredients for gun powder in the chemistry section. Who needed fire crackers? |
Ha, that's a lot of my teenage memories right there. |
Geez you guys are young. |
|
In high school, smoking cigarettes at Fair Oaks mall. And while we're on Fair Oaks mall, I remember Sam Goody, Hecht's, Woodies, Units (!!), Merry Go Round...
I remember when Reston Town Center was just one tiny main drag. I remember when West Ox Road was one lane. |
| Love, love this thread, great memories for a native Washingtonian exiled to Los Angeles! |
Yes!! And Tower Records (now Joann's fabric store...sad) |
Great photo! |
I think of this every time I drive by. EVERY TIME! When I'm feeling down on DC, this makes me smile. |
|
Anyone remember the Chi-Chis (and happy hours there) at Tyson's? ANd then it became Madeleine's, and is now...gone. Leveled. Soon to be a high rise something.
Sigh. |
