Nuclear.

It will take 15 years minimum to get enough nuclear up and running to handle the demand. What do we use in the meantime, hamsters on wheels?

It doesn't make any logical sense. But Republicans left the world of reason and common sense a long time ago. They are out to destroy wind, solar, and renewables, even though that's where all the demand and job growth is - even in Texas. It's become a political litmus test for Republicans - you must be all in with coal or otherwise you're not a good Republican.

Elon Musk is disgusted with this bill, so I'm hoping he uses his hundreds of billions to destroy Trump Republicans. This is an absolutely garbage bill on so many levels. If Americans were actually aware of what's in it, 95 percent would be opposed to it. I suspect Republican senators from red states know they are ending their careers voting for this and are seeking their golden parachutes now rather than show a little common sense and responsibility by defying Trump. The cult of MAGA is a wrecking ball for America. And it's a damn shame Democrats are so weak and pathetic at the moment.

Eh, should one person be able to do that?

No. But welcome to the world of Citizens United. That's why Supreme Court justices matter. This is a very red court. Republicans are all in with billionaires using their "free speech" to influence elections and policy. And if Elon Musk ends up using his billions to counter the billions from Timothy Mellon, the far right heir to that fortune, Miriam Adelson, the wife of casino scum, the Walmart heirs, Stephen Schwarzman, the head of Blackstone, and so on, well, good. Let the billionaires have their civil war.

Citizens United was an abomination and another reason why the Roberts Court has been a tragedy for America. I think Democrats suck these days, but this bill very much represents why the Republican Party are the clear and present danger to America right now.

GOP are simply going on camera and lying about the impacts of medicare, medicaid etc saying there are no cuts. Just flat out lying.

Robbie Torres: "In 2024, 90% of new electricity generation in the US was clean energy. 60% of it is solar. And Republicans are proposing to defund solar and battery storage and wind, which are the leading sources of new electricity generations in the US. It is an act of strategic self-sabotage."

These are not the actions of politicians who feel they will ever be accountable to voters in the future.

Today will be in the history books, and the women writing it will be sure to name every feckless MAGA senator. No pass for the weak ones either (I’m looking at you Thune…).

Oops, meant Tillis. Thune will be recorded as pure evil who didn’t care about Americans or his grandkids.

The thing is, everyone knows that this is their only shot. They know they'll lose in the midterms but even before that, the tax cuts will sunset st the year. So this BBB is it, the only chance they'll have in the foreseeable future.

They could have/should have done Two or Three or Four Big Beautiful Bills, but instead they chose this route. They all hate it, everyone else hates it. But this is it. This is their only chance to keep the tax cuts.

If there is so much fraud in medicare and medicaid, how come we never see profiles of people with corresponding charges? Like, not a single one.

There's not.

Medicaid has been expanded as part of the ACA to cover millions more people, those who cannot afford private insurance. That was planned.

Republicans want to roll Medicaid back to what it used to be, a much smaller program. That will leave millions without health coverage. More importantly, it will devastate our health industry, which is funded by Medicare and Medicaid as well as private health insurance payments. If the federal government cuts funding for Medicare and Medicaid, it will destroy our health care system for everyone. Not sure they realize that. Some probably don't, some probably do but figure something will sort it out somehow.

The fraud in Medicaid and Medicare is not by patients, but by shady provider companies.

Red state governors should be furious about this. Like a third of their residents or more are on Medicaid. 40% of the Speaker’s district.

The red state rednecks voted for him and, personally, I don't care if they die from lack of medical care.

When you say the quiet part out loud like that, you're not all that different from Trump and MAGA.

They are getting what they voted for.

No one voted for this. You just sound like a bad pets with your posts.

MAGA absolutely voted for this. It was in the GOP agenda known as Project2025.

Trump promised many times that he would not implement Project 2025. So no, no one voted for this. They voted for the opposite. Don't let your bitterness blind you.

Believing Donald Trump is an extraordinary failure in judgement. They deserve whatever is coming to them and more.

“They” is US!

Most of US here didn’t believe Donald Trump, nor did we vote for him.
