So I guess he thought his DEI status that got him hired for his Federal job would single him out for some special protections — since Trump campaigned on destroying the Federal Government. “Betrayed “ is an interesting choice of words. I’m almost sorry that I haven’t listened to Trump froth at a rally. I’m curious to know how people like Hooven understand what Trump is selling them. |

I’m not Indian, so this is an outsider’s opinion. Whiteness is a concept that, in the US, has had changing boundaries. Whiteness is about privilege and supremacy. I think some Indians view themselves as “white”— then get surprised, shocked, and hurt when they realize that not everyone else views them as “white”. The Irish and the Italians got to cross the divide into “whiteness”— so it’s a shock to these people when they see that they’re not “white yet — that not everyone views them in the way that they view themselves. Transitions are hard! — Especially for people who work hard, check all the boxes, and have been reliably bigoted against Black Americans and “illegal” immigrants to demonstrate that they are Real Americans too. |

[/quote] DP - You think it’s “evil” to boo someone who is benefiting from and responsible for the destruction of the Kennedy Center’s much admired programs and mission? How are you so sure that the people booing were all Dems? Maybe they were music lovers who realized that with Trump in charge and Usha now on the KC board programs like the one that they were all there to see might no longer be possible. For me, the “evil” part is that Vance smiled and waved while actively participating in the destruction of a cultural institution. No, people don’t have to like it — or to smile and wave back. |

[/quote] If this administration were more typical, I might agree. But they are dismantling our democracy, so he deserves to be boo'ed where ever he goes. Comments about his wife's looks are sexist though and unnecessary. Criticize her for what she does, not how she looks. |

Not really that interesting. White church goers are not treated badly due to the color of their skin. My point is that groups that are treated like cr-p treat others like cr-p. Case in point: White supremacist Indian Americans. When they see no problem with their racist and misogynist actions, it surprises me. By this point, I should not be surprised. If they examined their own thinking, they would have a chance of doing better. But oppression and putting others down is a virus that spreads. |

He is putting on a show and pretending not to care, but this kind of shaming in the typically "polite" public spaces would definitely sting, especially for Usha. Maybe they didn't understand the personal consequences of dismantling a democracy, but seeing as they are working against the constitution by ensuring domestic strife, reducing the general welfare, and dismantling liberty for Americans, they deserve to be dogged by public displays of disapproval for the rest of their lives.
