Agree, OP. I like dogs just fine, but don't want them everywhere. Another reason to stop eating out, I guess.

What the f is wrong with dog handlers? Go to a f park with your damn dog! The DMV is not ideal for dogs with narrow sidewalks and streets or no sidewalks

Google “public easement” and “utility easement.” If there isn’t a hell strip and sidewalk in front of your house, it’s unlikely you “own” the first six feet of your front yard.

That’s not how it works. The homeowner has to maintain it and the public gets to use it (within the bounds of the law).

I don’t have to! By law, the owners of the adjacent homes must maintain the public easement by mowing and shoveling, but the public gets to use it within the confines of the law. That’s exactly why you have to shovel the sidewalk in front of your house (typically) but the public still gets to walk on it.

Allowed yes! But many of your neighbors dislike you. My neighbors let their dogs pee on my tree and I’m polite through all of it, but I think they have bad manners. Dog owners suck! I don’t let my kids pee on your tree!

Oh well! 85% of my neighbors have dogs. And dogs are always peeing on the public easement just as they’re allowed to. I simply don’t plant anything precious to me there, which solves the problem. But if people don’t like me because I’m allowing my dog to do exactly what he’s allowed to do, then so be it. If someone puts I sign up, I’m polite enough to avoid that house. That’s as far as I’ll go.

OP I never understand why people like you can’t just handle your problem in the moment. I would have parlayed the restaurant example into a re-seat and a free dessert rather than be sourpuss for the whole day.

A dog licked my ankles in the self-checkout of a grocery store. I am allergic and had a rash by the time I got home. I told the owner what happened and they just shrugged - could not have cared less.
