Is cheap perfume still a thing?

One thing I really remember is cheap perfume that you could buy at drug stores--specifically I like "Electric Youth" (Debbie Gibson) "Night Rythem" (I don't know if it was made by Gloria Estefan, but they used her song in the commercials) and "Exclamation."

Speaking of commercials--they don't have them for cheap perfume/cologne anymore--even at Christmas! I remember the Stetson "easy for you" commercials being kind of a staple of the holiday season.

Anyway--are these cheap perfumes popular with tween/early teen girls anymore?

I don't think they make it anymore, but in the late nineties/early 2000s Gap had a fragrance series. They were cheaper than regular perfumes, came in large unadorned bottles and had one-word names. I had one called Grass and I freaking LOVED it. It smelled just like freshly-cut grass, which we can all agree is a very pleasant smell. No hint of sweetness. Just green fresh grass. I would buy like gallons of it if they still made it. I think the other one was called Dirt and I never had a chance to try it.

I remember loving Elizabeth Arden Sunflower, Clinique Happy and the VS body sprays.

Cheap perfumes are still a thing.

Bath and Body Works body mists
Sarah Jessica Parker has a cheap one (forgot name)
Elizabeth and James has a cheap perfume line too but I believe it’s being discontinued

There are a lot of knockoff perfumes available on Etsy.

I actually have a half bottle of the Gap grass. I found it unpacking a box and it still smells divine.
I love the cheap perfumes from the 80s.

Love's Baby Soft Musk was a popular first perfume.

+ 1

Loves Baby Soft (from the ‘80’s) was the ultimate best first perfume scent for young adolescents.

I remember when the Clinique free gift with purchase bags always came with a little bottle of Happy!

I’m wearing Rhianna’s Nude right now.

I like some of these cheap scents and wear them at home for myself. I especially enjoy on the hottest days in summer spritzing myself with a bottle of something floral that I stash in the fridge.

The first and last sentence are not true although the ones in the middle may be. Perfume is big business, especially among young people.

My teenager wears it, which was the first time I've been around it in forever (since I was pregnant with her, in fact....I became scent averse and stopped wearing it) She wears Prada candy and it smells so good.

All of Prada’s frags share a sad iris base and they just smell dismal.
