I drove through Tysons Corner at the time a portion of the caravan went through there. The first thing that struck me was the variety of cars on the road - not just pickup trucks, though we certainly saw some there, but also a lot of Porsches, Audis, BMWs, and Mercedes. There was one G wagon in that train. We waved at people in the cars as we drove by and they all were going the normal speed, neither fast nor slow. When I needed take the Rt7 on-ramp to the beltway, I signaled and got through their line with no drama.
Once I was on the beltway, we saw the huge caravan that was in the second right most lane. I signaled and was able to once again get through the line without issue into one of the left lanes. When I exited further down the road, I signaled a third time, and crossed their lines for a third time, with no issues. This is anecdotal, but I was with them for a few miles at least, and everything was very orderly. |
Nah, it was great! Met lots fun people, probably will hang out again in the future with a few of them. I’m from here, unlike you, so MD being blue isn’t a big deal to me. Even *I* used to be blue
Used to. Haha |
I'd prefer the latter, honestly. Looting and breaking windows doesn't generally result in deaths. There's been a rise in right wing terrorists using cars as weapons in the last few years and I find it much scarier. Obviously we can say today that none of the people driving trucks on the Beltway yesterday were trying to hurt or kill nyome, but if I had to take my chances with one or the other, I'd prefer to be among pedestrians. |
You didn’t mention anything about getting shot at or run off the road or murdered. Are you SURE you weren’t murdered? |
Other than one guy in Charlottesville, please cite as many other examples as you can of republicans or Trump supporters using a car in a vehicle attack*. * a panicky driver caught by surprise in the middle of a violent leftist protest mob who floors the gas pedal to escape while in fear for their life while being attacked doesn’t count. Sorry. |

No shit. Great Falls doesn't want to pay taxes. |
Cars driving with flags were scaring children and adults. Yeah — right... |
Self-driving cars? |
Well I think we’ve established that reading compression isn’t your thing, huh? |
| Threaten me with your vehicle at speed and I may exercise my Second Amendment rights in your direction in self defense. A vehicle is a deadly weapon. |

Saturday: people in a voting-rights march to an early-voting site in North Carolina, with a permit, get pepper-sprayed and arrested by the police for blocking traffic and improperly occupying county property.
Sunday: other people drive their cars and trucks around on the Beltway. It's clear who has the courage of their convictions vs who just likes to feel all big. |
Looks like you're replying to the wrong person as I'm not in this quote thread. But I gotta admit, I saw someone describe these caravans as essentially a post-Trump movement and that is what it is. What you get out of it will only increase if Trump is gone. And that's why we'll see it intensify. |
