All of these school see the box on the common app that indicates whether a student is applying for financial aid. Make of that what you will.

I don't believe it, either.

Yes, you are right, all those schools are lying to you, and not one of the present and former thousands of Admissions Officers has ever come out and told the truth after decades of the policy, even in the tell-all books they have written! You, however, have cracked the code! Congrats, Q!

The common app is an electronic form. There is roles based administration so it can be set so that admissions doesn’t see financial information, the financial aid office doesn’t see the academics, etc etc. That’s how they do it. Call a need blind school’s admissions office and they will happily explain it to you.

I know first-hand that our need blind college is financially challenged, even with a strong endowment. If they need to send kids home this year, or if this pandemic continues to impact programming into the 2021-2022 academic year, I think need the blind policy might need to be re-evaluated, at least for waitlist candidates.

OMG, why not just say the school. How would anyone possibly identify you on here?
Also, once you get to the Colby-tier, you aren't talking about "selective" schools. Solid, yes.

Ah, the one data point argument. Morons love it.

The sun is up right now. There is no night.

Of course Colby is selective. It means hard to get in, doesn’t take everyone, etc.

Colby has a 13% acceptance rate

Weird statement. Source?

Look at article in today's W.S.J. (I get print so you need to find your own link). Plus this has been true for at least ten years. Test males are applying to college. Where have you been? I am not the poster who wrote that BTW

OP - those stats won’t filter your child out but won’t do
Anything more than have them considered in a pool of thousands of applicants. Help your child dream big but manage their expectations.....
