Now you want to tell these same teens to go back in hiding. Mixed messages do not work with teenagers.

My teens understand just fine that we marched in masks and they can't go back to hanging out like pre-pandemic. Some people are just idiots.

Orthodontist
Allergist
Walks in the park by themselves
Backyard throwing frisbee with parent
Family trip to MD (no other families involved)
One trip to Target with parent

Literally, that is all.

Not all teens in Vienna are running in groups.

So, since March they have no personal communication with any single friend of their age?

Well, DP, but my kid has only seen a few friends from across the driveways. It will be weird next week when we drop her off at college as a freshman.

So you won't let her see friends now but you are letting her go away to college (with many people around). Do you hear yourself?

I did not set the rule. I set expectations, based on my preexisting conditions. I can not risk anyone bringing the virus home. She understood that. She only complained about the isolation, but not about the expectations. She knows that if I get it, there is a significant chance (>40%) of a bad outcome (meaning hospitalization, and great than 10% chance of death, based on my age and other factors.

It is that simple. And it is not a Vienna Phenomena, except maybe unlike most communities in the DC area, we have a Down Town.

I personally view those people who are going around without masks as heroes. They are exposing themselves to the new virus and building heard immunity, which is good for all of us.

personally, I view you as an ignorant fool.

Yep. She is smoking crack. Those people are idiots to not wear masks and she is a moron to idolize them. And when they have chronic problems left by the virus she will vote happily for people who will kick them off insurance for having a pre-existing conditions.
