To most French catholics anything they do there .. sacral services or civic events is probably
Equal heresy. However if you are french Catholic then what is worse heretics praying or atheist dancing in a
Building that you don't consider a church to begin with because it has not been consecrated by bishop.

So why the drama.?

What? I didn’t understand a word you wrote.

You sound very immature. The issue is whether this event is appropriate in the Nave.

Immature and ignorant. Discussion is not about dancing, just where the appropriate place for it.

I wonder what the longtime church members and families think about this event—I’m talking about families who had mothers serve as “Purple Ladies” greeters/tour guides. Surely there is some opposition to this event? Within the NCS/STA families?

Are you all serious???? It’s a $20 per person fundraiser for adults that adds LEGO’s to a Model of the cathedral for charity. Both last year and this years events served no alcohol and were campy at best. Think taffeta abd big hair. About as sacreligous as a church hayride.

Get over yourselves.

They could have held dance in St Alban’s or NCS gyms if it was just about the church community getting together, I would think. I wonder how much money they make on this event. I can’t really see any of the older Cathedral generations going to this dance. Seems to be targeted at the flyby, casual church goers.

The NCS auction is held in the nave now.

So why do this campy event in a sacred space? When there are other spaces available to the congregation? Yes, it was noted there was no alcohol being served (that was at the private lobbyist event noted through link above for Washington Board of Trade).

I know. That’s her standard line. So pathetic.

I’m really very sad about this.

Don’t attend but I feel confident saying yes to the alcohol, not sure for the dancing.

I wish some other Episcopal leaders from different churches would weigh in if they are following this thread. Is the Nave a sacred space or not? Obviously the Cathedral leadership doesn’t see it as sacred, otherwise they wouldn’t allow it to be used for private, secular events (with open bars).

Thanks. I had no idea they did this. I’m really surprised no one questioned the appropriateness of the location.
