To quote a well known Democratic strategist, Jim Carville:

"It's the economy, stupid!"

And to those who say that a president has limited influence on the economy, whether that is true or not, the reality is that voters credit or blame the incumbent president for what happens to the economy.

I don't think that anyone is arguing that Americans aren't influenced by the economy when they vote, and that many ignorant people wrongly credit or penalize a President for having undue influence on the economy.

But if you are an intelligent, informed person, you know that many factors independent of the president influence the economy and try to take a broader view of why you would vote for a particular candidate.

Youth employment will be a determining factor for me. I remember very well how bad it was for college graduate in 2008. Now, every single kid I know who graduated from college within last two years was already employed before graduation. I have two kids in college now, so will vote for Trump this time.
