Colleagues with "fake" advanced degrees? Ordered to address someone as "Doctor" (online doctorate)

I read it costs $60,000-70,000 for their PhD and EdD programs. And I’d bet most who pick those up are charging it to their employer or taxpayers.

But they are single parents or veterans, so it's OK

True fact, Harvard has an almost entirely online program where you can get a bachelors or MA and you attend the same graduation.

Here's the kicker, its basically open admissions like DeVry or any other for profit university, but with the same curriculum and some of the same teaching staff as the more selective programs.

The masters thesis requirement is no joke. I really respect the individuals who go through the extension school.

I wouldn't knock it either, its basically the same exact program, just with different admission standards.

Getting a degree online holds the same stigma as getting a date online. Both are the new norms and here to stay, yet neither feels natural.

Dr. Martin Luther King... just saying, you thinking that Dr. should only be used by physicians, is stupid.

I’ve always wondered why he’s called a doctor and others aren’t. He has a doctorate in theology.

And I don’t mean disrespect. Many/most priests have such a doctorate and aren’t called doctors.

I come from a family of PhDs and MDs. They all go by their given names except when protocol calls for titles.

It seems like every EdDoc that I know insists on being called "Dr." though...

Seriously, the EDDs are the worst. Do they know we all make fun of them?

I work in admin at the NIH. Lots of genius PhDs and MDs. Also, many (but not all) huge egos. Many expect to be called Dr. in both e-mail and in person. These are individuals focused on research, but not direct patient care. Still, I always give them the courtesy of their title.
