Glad she is at UPenn now. Also she was a track star at Sidwell and surprised she did not get in anywhere. The whole thing is so fishy.

I would agree if she hadn't applied to only the very top schools in the country. She admits (through the litigation) that she expected to rely on/benefit from affirmative action. Also, she wasn't rejected everywhere -- The appeals court decision says something about her being rejected or waitlisted or withdrawing applications from all the schools she applied to (but I haven't read the whole thing, so I don't know which schools).

Schools like Sidwell want the students to succeed -- I don't think they want to lie to get kids into schools where they can't succeed. If they gave her "terrible" recommendations, which I doubt, it is entirely plausible that she deserved it.

Do private schools really write terrible recommendations for their own students?

If they do, and before they do, they should have counselled the student out.

Lol....you’re so naive. Do you have the faintest idea about how hard it is to counsel out a student of color?

Ruining a teenager's life for whatever reason is a deplorable act by any school.

Virtually impossible, especially at Sidwell.
Thanks, Michelle!

How is her life ruined?

Of course if that in fact happened. Seems completely implausible to me even after reading the complaint.

So going to Penn is ruining a life?

I mean, the fact that her name will show up in this lawsuit is far worse.

Agreed! I just googled her name and Penn track and field came up.

So I can see why the family is crying foul. What's different about this family, v a hypothetical entitled but not overachieving white child from an American family?

It may seem that way to you because you’re ignorant. An elite private isn’t going to damage its reputation with an elite college by advocating on behalf of a family of troublemakers.....regardless of race. But way to try and turn it into a racial motivation you utter mbecile.

Watch it with the name calling there, jerky.I'm not the one with a lawsuit shelling out $50k on a student and family I couldn't manage.

You sound very naive and frankly pretty new to the elite school game if you think a family of troublemakers is a new thing.

+1. Terrible job at parenting. Terrible abuse of the system to try and get some money. Terrible of lawyer to even take this case.

They didn’t find a very good lawyer. There are numerous mistakes and typos in the petition filed with the Supreme Court.

The HoS tried the direct, exasperated approach - be “gone, gone, gone!” But it didn’t work very well.

Na Na Na! Not at Big3. My understanding is to apply to 8 or 9 schools that are carefully selected with a strong input from counseling.

What a crappy school!!!!

STFU. The girl applies to 13 top schools (no safeties) and sues when not admitted? Give me an f'ing break. The sense of entitlement and use of race here is disgusting. The only mistake SFS made was admitting this low class family.

This. It’s basically another variant of the “Nigerian prince” scam, this time misusing DC agencies and the courts, and with Sidwell as the target.
