Face It: You (Probably) Got a Tax Cut

(sigh) Because corporations never pay taxes. If they are "taxed" all they do is charge their customers more to compensate, and thus YOU (the customer) wind up paying their taxes for them.

Or, they move headquarters and operations abroad, like those massive "inversions" under Obama.

I’m not sure how to describe this but my income was relatively static and I got $3500 less in my return this year. It certainly feels like I’m paying more in taxes.

My daughter and I are just under the low/mod line. I'm paying less in payroll taxes and my refund doubled (enough to pay for two weeks of day camp!). It seems like all of my UMC married/dual earner friends got hammered, and they are convinced that Trump is going to get voted out because his tax cut was a failure.

Oh, so can we expect 20% lower prices on all consumer and service goods now?

No? Why is that?

It actually surprises you that they keep profits but transfer losses to others? LOL at Miss Naive.

Did you forget to adjust your withholding like so many other people? Were you actually taxed about the same amount but you just had to write a check for $3,500 instead of paying it up front via withholding?

We are MC or UMC(depends on how insane dcum is....) and I am liberal and under no illusion that Trump will not get reelected. (If anything I am pretty sure he will) Pattern of nationalism is taking over the Western world.
It is not about taxes, or industry, it is about him being racist and white supremacist and population of the US in most white areas is the same. They are willing to vote for the devil to have their white country, and see nothing past that. No educated person can deny that. Taxes will make no difference. However, I admit that many liberals are utterly blind to their own shortcomings and all too eager to blame it on the "stupid" population without realizing they are part of the problem. Why would anyone in less educated strata(but not a moron) vote for Hilary that called people deplorables??? That is how most of less educated population see us, yes, us, more wealthy and educated people as a**holes who are trying to tell them what is good for them. And they are right.

DP, we withheld the maximum, no other year did we have to go in a write additional sum to be withheld. This year we got half return than last year and owed MD taxes. Never before did we owe. We plain and simple got screwed on the deductions, and we don't have 10K in house taxes either. Once again, middle class pays for the poor, and yet immigrants get blamed by poor white Americans for ruining their country. Here is how I see it, those US citizens that live off of my middle class taxes are much worse than illegal immigrants that get blamed for everything. Why? Bcs illegal immigrants generally pay taxes and they get nothing in return. They are, for most part, the most productive part of the country. But fat 600lbs Bessy in Alabama that gets welfare cause she ain't working cause immigrants took her job is too stupid not to eat potato chips and not to see that she is part of the problem. Not Rosa that works three jobs and gets what? Deported.

We take 0 deductions every year after a few years of owing and this year we got $6K less back and only got $3K. Nothing changed.

What? You got less or the same? Do you mean taxes didn't change or your paid taxes didn't change? I don't get your point.

PP here. We did not adjust our withholding. We reported 2 deductions for withholding when we actually have 4 on our return.

To clarify, we did not pay. We simply got $3500 less back than in prior years.
