Kids perception of working / sah parents

How would it be for a mom who had an awesome career, respect, high paying job for 20 years, then she got pregnant, quit her job, had another kid and when kids were 6 and 4, mom had been out of the work force for about 5 years. At that point, at age 47, she started part time work. Fast forward 4 years. Decided to quit. Kids ages- 10 and 8. Now they can really understand the world around them better and what do they see - a supposedly ‘weak’, ‘unambitious’ Woman, no identity of her own because they don’t see her have a career. Oh how can they ever respect her??!!

Just took my older 2 kids to work with me bc of the Take Your Kids Day. My older child started to understand what I do. I was a SAHM for many years and still have lots of SAHM friends so I hate the mommy wars. I can only speak for myself, but around the time 45 was elected I felt like I wanted more control over how my country was going. I started working in a nonprofit for immigrants and now work in local government. I don’t make a lot but I cover the childcare at least. I’m more stressed but also more content. The kids all adjusted very well and we found a wonderful childcare option for my youngest. I do hope one day when they think of their mom that they respect my choices and see that it has nothing to do with how much I love them (they know I do).
