Ha! This must create a great moral dilemma for DC Millennial-Progressives when they fly from our close-in Airport. They can't bear to call it Reagan, but now they no longer can use National. Or the horror! |
|
Put the blame where it belongs - on the nazis. They’re the ones who contaminated the word. Now we’re stuck with having to fix it.
I think the “Federals” would be a good alternative. Rolls off the tongue just as easy, abbreviates to Feds, and is understood across the whole country to mean “Washington” But something has to be done, because it’s approaching the point of the team name essentially being like a confederate flag. |
You didn't actually read what I said, did you? |
can someone link to anyplace where anyone is actually calling to change the name of the nationals? Otherwise I assume this is all trolling. |
Of course it is a troll. This is an anonymous message board populated by people with a ton of free time. |
|
That doesn't change the fact that changing the name of the team to something that doesn't evoke thoughts of tiki torches and white hoods or swastika armbands isn't a bad idea.
What's the harm? It's a positive option. What is to gain by keeping a name that evokes unpleasant thoughts? |
But to whom does it actually evoke these negative images? Who isn’t a troll? - a dyed-in-the-wool liberal Jewish woman |
| It evokes those thoughts in me. A real, live, flesh and blood person. |
PP should have specified a sane person. Then the answer would be no. |
A contender for sure, but have you seen the ones advocating for locking up kitchen knives or just banning them altogether? In the thread about the 12 y.o in CT who killled his twin sister. |
I'm sure the 12 year old sister woulda probably thought it was a good idea Just sayin. |
| I’ve followed this thread for days now. I thought it was stupid at first, but it’s contagious. When you are introduced to the thought, after that, every time you hear Nationals, you think white nationalists. I never considered it before, but now I can’t help but think about it. The team and MLB need to get in front of this. |
Then, get a life!! "National" has nothing to do with racism. This country is becoming filled with over sensitive people. If it bothers you, then move. |
| There clearly are people with way too much time on their hands. Wow. Get a life! Nationals has nothing to do with White Nationalism. The Nationals' first Manager just passed away, and he was very proud to have managed the Nationals in their first years. Frank Robinson is one of MLB's all time greats, by any definition. He is an African American, for those on this thread. |
| We can talk about it once the redskins --an undeniably racist name--have changed their name |
