I have never noticed Lively's mole before and now that it's brought to my attention I think it suits her and is part of her beauty.

I agree. My child's mole is fine, it's been checked out by docs, if you don't like it, that's a YOU problem. Get over it, judgmental jerks.

OK now, but moles grow.

and as I said, if they actually grow, you get it checked by a doc for possible cancer

this isn't that hard.

Remove them if you wish, but they aren't hurting anyone else.

Sure, but we were talking about moles being beautiful. They can be cute on a child, but once they start growing, there's nothing pretty about them. Sorry.

No I am sorry that you are so uneducated.

Not all moles grow. The vast majority of moles are benign and will look the same you're entire life. I have hundred of moles on my body and 99.9999% of them never change. The few that do I get removed. 0% of my moles are your business though.

You have hundred of moles on your body and they are not my business?! Um...ok, thanks for sharing on a public forum, enjoy them.

You seem very dumb.

Lots of healthy, normal people have moles all over their bodies. Look up Kenneth Rooks who just won a silver at the Olympics in 3000m steeple chase. His back is covered in moles just like lots of people.

Being horrified or disgusted by this is no different than thinking dark skin is ugly or that someone's crooked teeth are your business to weigh in on. The PP who said Nazi earlier was actually not far off (and I do NOT throw that word around lightly).

Same. If I had all my moles removed I'd have had like 100 skin excisions by now. Perhaps more.

I see a dermatologist regularly and we keep track of any "concerning" moles and have those excised and biopsied if necessary. But the handful of moles on my face have not changed in size or appearance since I was a child so I've never bothered. I personally like how they look and it's my face.

I once had a woman freak out over a mole on my shoulder because it's "irregularly" shaped and she was lecturing me about how I needed to get it checked and it was "disgusting." It's not even a large mole -- just a little odd shaped instead of perfectly round. I asked my derm about it at my next appointment and she was like "no I don't worry about that one -- it's small and has normal color and has never grown. But this woman was throwing a fit about it.

This is very much where this is just about some of you having weird OCD tendencies and needing to weight in on other people's bodies and appearance. Being "grossed out" by something as normal and commonplace as a mole is a reflection of your own psychological issues. See a therapist.

The one on my hand (go away, annoying mole n@zi) is looked at by every single doctor I see because it has multiple weird characteristics - not symmetrical, not all one color, that kind of thing. But I have had it for my entire life and it has NEVER changed. And when I did attempt to get it removed, the plastic surgeon told me the scar would be bigger because of location/proximity to bone.

Oddly, the type of mole (blue nevi) is more common in Asian populations and I am as white as white can be.

People need to mind their business. I mean, I wouldn't be mad if someone said it was odd and I should get it checked. Usually, I just tell them "yes, I have had it looked at already and it's nothing"

People who freak out about moles tend to have anxiety and OCD. They need to look inward. I just have a little brown mole on my cheek -- you have a black spot on your personality. Only one of those things is malignant.

this right here!

This seems a little harsh...A black spot on the personality? I just don't really like them, particularly if they are large. I apply that same standard to myself, I have gotten many even small moles removed if they were very dark. I don't think they take away from someone's beauty and would never comment on someone's mole or body. I just find them distracting if large. That's all. Lively's is small but yes I think I would have removed it. To each his or her own.

"I WOULD have it removed" is not the same as "she SHOULD have it removed." Totally different level.

This is true. And it seems lots of people are confused because she's a celebrity, selling her face, and it starts to move into - therefore, she should have it removed - territory.

Look I'm sure Blake has a publicist and would change her name to Flake if it kept her getting roles. Mole is obvi not a deterrent to roles. Moles and trolls molls and trolls. But sure we can still complain anonymously about not liking to look at them.

I find moles generally speaking to be very icky (which I realize is a personal issue rather than objective fact). I got all mine removed. Blake’s is prob one of the most fine but a lot of the time I am floored by moles that people have not taken care of that could be easily removed and are very prominent.

Worst one is Karen Huger’s in Real Housewives of Potomac.

Dude - don’t be childish.
People have eyes and have opinions about looks. If your child’s mole bothers them as they age then support them to have a removal. You can’t change all other humans

People don’t need therapy bc they find moles unattractive. Just like they don’t need it bc they find obesity unattractive or other things. It just is. It’s a shame that my teeth aren’t perfectly straight and my nose is crooked and others probably notice but I certainly don’t blame them or expect them to get therapy. I should just get a rhino if I want them to not think it or deal with them thinking it

Moles are not contagious.

If you want to remove moles on your body no one cares.

Wanting to force other people to remove moles on their bodies because you find them "icky" is actually in line with the way Nazis thought about people and "purity."

Like ask yourself what it is about moles that bothers you. Is it that they are dark marks? That they disrupt otherwise "pure" skin? Do you think moles are signs of disease? That every mole is cancer? That people with moles must be dirty?

Sorry that I refuse to accept your weird obsession with other people's bodies as normal and fine.

Agree with bolded which is why the people on this thread insisting people have all moles removed are being extremely controlling and unrealistic.

Finding moles unattractive is fine. No one is forcing you to marry or date or have sex with a person who has a prominent mole. You're free!

Calling moles gross and disgusting and insisting that people with moles have them removed do that you don't have to look at them is actually something to seek therapy for.

You are confusing multiple posters. I said they were icky but I never said anything about nazism. I am a np.
I don’t think people should be forced to have moles removed. I personally think they are in some cases (most) suboptimal especially when prominent and if it were me I would deal with it asap. Just like I’d deal with any physical defect or live with the dad that it’s not ideal (many things about me are not ideal). What I would not do is assume that noticing issues with appearance makes other people the problem. That’s just life. I guess there are some people who don’t think moles are unattractive just like there are people who don’t think weight is an issue or crooked teeth etc. which is fine and good for them. But a good chunk of the population do get the ick from moles and I think that’s not something that requires therapy

Just to be clear:

You thinking moles are icky and judging people for having them is normal and "just life" and people with moles should just accept it.

But me thinking your obsession with benign moles on other people's bodies is a reflection of messed up thinking you should seek therapy for is unfair or wrong.

Mmkay.
