One boy remains in critical condition. Please keep this boy and his family in your prayers.
Nearly a week after four high school students were hurt when a car crashed into them at a bus stop, a 15-year-old boy is still fighting for his life. Devin Garcia is still in a D.C. hospital after the crash Tuesday, Oct. 9. "It just breaks my heart," his mother, Lilia Garcia, said Monday. Devin Garcia has a brain injury, internal bleeding and broken bones. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/It-Breaks-My-Heart-Teen-in-Critical-Condition-After-Students-Hit-Near-Maryland-Bus-Stop-in-Aspen-Hill-497645161.html |
If you're driving and you see a high school student in the road when they're not supposed to be there, what do you think? A. Oh, there is a high school student, I will slow down/stop/do whatever it takes to not hit them. B. That high school student is not supposed to be there! I am going to keep driving! If I hit them with my car, it's their own fault! (There are 2,500+ students at Northwest HS. They do not fit on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is too narrow. The state should reduce Great Seneca Highway from 3 lanes to 2, widen the sidewalk, and add a protected bike lane.) |

Don’t be dishonest. That’s not what he said. |
What did he say, according to you? What did the other candidates say? |
Florence and Elrich brought up the issues that are addressed in the Council letter above. Ficker, after having to be reminded of what the question was, blamed pedestrians for getting hit and said that he was really familiar with this issue because he represents so many drivers who hit pedestrians. |
Whoops, Floreen autocorrected to Florence. And here’s an update, one kid is still in the ICU. https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/schools/family-friends-raise-funds-for-hospitalized-teen-who-was-struck-by-car-at-bus-stop/ |
I haven't looked up DC or VA, but MD MVA only has license reciprocity agreements with South Korea, France, Germany, Taiwan, and Japan. |
Ridiculous. Did the cameras really show they were all clicking around on their phones and didn't even see what was happening? |

“SHA Administrator Greg Slater said Wednesday that he will meet with the Montgomery County Council in a couple of weeks, following a letter that all nine members signed Tuesday that calls for a reduction of the 45 mph speed limit on the Aspen Hill portion of Georgia Avenue. Asked whether that solution would be on the table, Slater said yes.”
