Not totally related but there is someone who drives to our bus stop and then zooms off, even when the bus is still stopped.

Is there any way to request a bus camera for a specific bus?

Oh my!

Our fcps middle school bus picks up at 6:45 AM on an unlit turn where 3 roads come together.

I sometimes worry about this happening in the morning.

Oh no, I hope the injuries weren’t severe. It would have been dark then and if the car got rear-ended he couldn’t have controlled where it went. I don’t know how to prevent something like that except suggest kids stand a little further back from the road.

Good Lord. I hope these kids are OK.

There are so many dangerous bus stops around the county. Shudder.

One child has life threatening injuries. I hope he survives. His poor parents. If something happens to him, their life is forever shattered.

Traffic moves fast on Georgia Ave. Definitely hoping everyone ends up okay.

I saw how long Georgia was closedand knew this had to be something bad. Hope they all will be OK.

Can you film it with your phone and then report to the police?

Are they passing the bus while it has its "Stop lights" on? (Or have they parked in front of the bus, and then just driving "ahead" of it? Or are they behind the bus, and then going away from the bus?)

Yes!

The person’s kids had already gotten on the bus. But there were other kids still getting on the bus, so the red lights were still flashing. And she drove past it. Has done this several times.

I guess I could film it? But that seems somewhat intrusive.

You might be able to call the non emergency number and see if they can send an officer out to sit there during the time this usually happens. I've found police to be weirdly responsive to this kind of thing.

Filming a driver violating school bus safety is far from intrusive.

Also, if you're in Rockville, you can report license plate number of the police online. The driver won't get a citation, but will get a letter in the mail. Not sure if that's true in the County.

Thank you. That’s a good suggestion. I’d be more willing to do that versus trying to get her on video.

MCPS doesn't usually have the general ed buses go into apartment complexes, but I bet this bus stop is going to get moved. Not that it's their fault--bus stops by definition need to be near a road, so something like this is unfortunately always a possibility. But it would be the natural response.
