Naomi Osaka

Pulled up a thread from 2018 to dump on her. What is wrong with you?

She always seems sad. Would be draining to be around.

She just had a baby in July and now only three months later may have split with the baby's father? Ugh, I hope not. Although that guy didn't seem to be very productive - in her documentary he seemed to just lay around watching tv all the time doing nothing.

Rappers aren’t all that interested in long term relationships.

Yes, they are.

Being 'polite' has nothing to do with whether or not they are racist. They relegate all foreigners or minorities to poor/ghetto districts, inter-marriage of race or ethnicity but especially both is heavily frowned upon, beauty is to be the palest upon palest snow-white as possible and if you're not that - screw you, and Japanese media is openly discriminatory.

BTW their discrimination isn't just again non-Asians, the Japanese hate ANYONE that isn't Japanese and wants to live and/or mix with them. I have a Korean-American friend with a half-white son who is constantly facing judgement - so much so that she's coming back to the U.S. because the Japanese a) don't like that she's 'foreign', b) don't like that she isn't fluent in the language (but her son is), and c) think anything she does that is counter-culture to Japanese practices is wrong.

Here's a lovely shopkeeper advertisement that says 'Japanese Only'. It was specifically known to target Chinese consumers in the area - but you get the idea.

How about whites in Japan? I would imagine they be worshipped?

Nope. I have two friends who are white with Japanese spouses. One couple lives in the US and the other lives in Japan. Both have children. The family that live in the US have normal, American family lives. The family that lives in Japan have to send their mixed race kids to an international school because of extreme bullying and ostracization of their half white kids. Like a pp said, it’s pure Japanese or nothing.

But if you look at the advertising in Japan, they very clearly worship half-white Japanese people.

While the Japanese like the look and it's good for product merchandising, the Japanese don't want to actually be such people, i.e. half-Japanese.

Yes, they are polite but jingo-racists. Here's the Japanese race hierarchy: Whites on top, then Japanes, all other Asians, dark people at the bottom.

To be exact, Japanese --> Orientals --> all other dark people including SE Asians, South Asians, and Africans.

Yes, the Japanese are very polite. That politeness is often used as a wall with foreigners (including all Asians who are not Japanese).

She broke up with her rapper baby daddy. Predictable.

Rappers aren't really into long-term, committed relationships. Just in spreading their seed.

I think that she was pushed by her parents and rebelled against it all after she won a few slams. Becoming a legal adult gave her the opportunity to decide for herself, and she often seems like she does not want to play. She reminds me of Andre Agassi who said that he got to the point where he hated tennis. She also admits to getting down on herself. This summer she thanked a fan at Wimbledon for cheering her name because she was losing ,motivation during the match. I honestly feel like she was subjected to abusive training standards. It's no wonder that she acts like she would rather be anywhere else but at a tennis match. All of these underage tennis players should have an outside monitor to advocate for their mental health and identify abuse. I feel like we see the same cycle with most young players where they become adults and realize that their parents and coaches have been living off them.

Maybe this will bring them and the right wing Trump/Elon fan boys together for the holidays.

I like Naomi. She battled depression from 2021-2022 and then had a baby in 2023. Probably battled postpartum. Babies will test the strongest of relationships. They broke up before and got back together. I guess it's for good this time since she made an announcement.

I’m exhausted and it’s only page 2

Wasn’t she supposed to be an introvert and avoid spotlights? She’s screaming for attention here. What gives?

Not sure where you dreamt up this hierarchy from but Japanese don’t like white people either. Especially American whites.
