My mother was an older first time mom when she started having children. I'm the oldest child and she was 30 when she had me - I was born in 1964.

I was 36 when I had my first child. He is now 18. I am now 54.

When I was 18, my mother was 48. So I'm not that much older than my mom was.

What I find really interesting is my grandmother was also an older first time mother. My grandmother was born in 1900. She had her first child, my mom, in 1934 when she was 34 years old. So when my mother was 18, her mother was 52 years old.

I am much older than my mother was when she had a kid who is the age of my oldest. I’ll also be much older when my first finishes high school. I’m trying to see if this is generally the norm.

My mother had her first at age 25 and 11 months, and her last at 30 and 3 months. Lots of people commented on how old she was with my younger brother. Some people implied it was irresponsible of her to have a baby past 30.

In contrast, I had my only at 29 and 11 months and 2 weeks. Many people have commented that they can't believe I had a kid "in my 20's", as if I was a baby myself.

She was 41, or 40 if you count her 8-month stillborn. I’m 33. Oldest is almost 4. I’m so happy I was able to start earlier.

The fact that most of our parents had children at a younger age is not surprising at all. A few teen parents in this thread, which isn't surprising either.
