What is Pomona looking for?

DS is starting Pomona in a few weeks. He had a 3.9 unweighted GPA with 10 AP classes - 5s and As all three AP science. His SAT was 1550 and he was his senior class president. White kid with no hooks. And got a need based full scholarship.

Not unusual for kids with these stats to be rejected by Harvard or other Ivies. Shows the importance of risk management, of carefully managing approximately 10 college applications among safety, match, and reach. Don't think Ivies - or the state unis. There are plenty of SLACs that are just as good as Ivies.
