And how does Loudon compare to these salaries? I’m considering becoming a teacher, and can move to where I get a job,

APS: Arlington Public Schools

ACPS: Alexandria City Public Schools

Good luck pp. I support teachers all the way!

They all have scales online.

OP, I switched from FCPS to ACPS. Higher salary (substantially), zero commute, same schedule as my kids. The no commute was the kicker for me. Do what’s closest for you. There was a lot of bureaucracy at my highly ranked FCPS school. Wouldn’t send my kids there.

Unless you take a financial bath in the process of moving, get out of ACPS as soon as you can. The whole system is rotting from the inside.

for comparison of salaries and compensation benefits at the various divisions look at the WABE Guide (https://www.apsva.us/budget-finance/wabe-guide/)

Would never send my kids to T.C. Williams, so guess it evens out.

Have you checked it out and spoken to parents? If not, you’re not making an informed decision. DD went there and then to a top Ivy. She felt well-prepared.
